61 this year and still giving it. Can still do everything I could at 20 just takes longer. No intention of dying of old age or having a slow decline if it is in my control. Hopefully go out on an epic back country trip gone wrong.

I turn 50 in a month. I am not old. However, my maternal grandmother at 50, was. I'm physically active, work 6 days a week, keep up with modern technology, phrases, etc. My granny did none of these things. Good woman, she was, but she was also very tired and a bit lazy at 50...by the time she died at 70, she was OLD! My mom is now 73 and still push mows an acre 1 to 2 times a week, goes to see her grandkids all over the state, and is very technologically adept. Age is a mindset, but it's also about remaining physically active. As the saying goes, movement is medicine! My family had a bad habit of getting old quick I’ll count 3 sides of my family ( mom, dad, stepdad ) and all of them didn’t do much of anything exciting (or really anything) My dad died young ( 52 ) and he liked to hunt and fish, nothing too adventurous but he didn’t have many financial means. His dad ( my grandfather ) didn’t do much, I literally cant ever remember him leaving the house from age 64 to 80. Mom’s family didn’t do much ( grandpa ran some trotlines and was a passionate gardener)except for my Oldest uncle, he grabbed life by the horns and I looked up to him immensely. He passed at 81 this past August, and he really didn’t slow down until his late 70’s when his health finally caught up to him. He survived cancer and had a good run after that. Hell, he still was getting in fist fights in his mid 60’s. Step dad was the oldest 40 year old you have ever met, I’ll have about as much fun in a weekend as he did in a decade. Didn’t socialize, didn’t really hunt, didn’t fish, didn’t golf, didn’t read, etc, boring AF. His sister and brother in law ( who were very good people) and we were close to didn’t do much exciting things except go play craps and slot machines in Vegas and Louisiana from time to time I really think that generation was largely taught that life is boring and not to expect much out of it. I hang around three guys now all in their 60’s and every one of them is fun and ready to go on an adventure if one arises. That was not the kind of people I knew growing up
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

It is a mindset. My mind is 20, but my body tells me differently. ^^^^^Yeah, not sure that's always a good thing (mindset). My Brother in Law just turned 64, but I swear he has always had the mind of a 12 year old. A constant embarrassment to the family. Been married 7 times, loud and obnoxious. Thinks can still 'race' his motorcycles (in an age class). Last year broke BOTH of his wrists when he didn't land a jump correctly. No insurance, working part time as a plumber. Famous for making poor decisions. If there were a problem where 99 out of 100 actions would correct it, he would find the ONE action that was wrong every time! But....he's 'happy' most of the time. So maybe being forever 12 yrs is a good thing for some folks.

75 here and can still most anything I did years ago, most of it is just slower. Also being retired, retired I'm mostly at home, and mostly on the computer to keep my mind going. Walk a little slower, but still have good balance. I'm blessed.

61. Took a tumble on a wet spot in the store yesterday. Feeling it hard today. Are you going to talk to an attorney Not my style. S**t happenes. Good for you. Not my style, either.

At 63 I am an old fart but still able to work all day and coach my grandkids. Can't run like I used to and it takes a little longer to get over an injury. Having lots of fun being an old kid. Me too, I just turned 63. So, since our B-Days are on the same day, which one of us are actually OLDER than the other? My Mom says I was born around noon.

82 and arthritis really hit hard about 6 months ago. Got my lower back, legs and thumbs. Taking 2 extra strength Tylenols 2 or 3 times per day. Doc says that’s OK. Bending at the waist kills my lower back so when I’m doing interesting physical stuff I wear a lower back brace that somewhat, but only somewhat, helps.
Spending way too much time in the recliner watching TV with a heating pad.
Now, for the first time forever, having my lawn mowed and edged. No way to stand totally upright while mowing and edging.
I’ve made hundreds of knives but had to quit. I can’t stand at a grinder without bending my back. Gonna give my grinder, billets and everything to my grandson.
Safe full of guns and reloading gear that I’ll probably never use. Butt deep in rods, reels and tackle that I’m giving away to a friend. grandkids will inherit the guns and some fishing stuff.
Rest of my body is good. Doc says, other than arthritic, most of my body is in great shape. Grandsons had a talk with me about them planting the winter wheat this year for the deer. Heck, let them.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

I'm 60 but my body started breaking down when I was 27 so I really can't tell the difference.

Dick Van Dyke turned 99 on his last birthday. Check out the video with Cold Play, still dancing, still making jokes, loving life. I'm reading his book "Keep Moving". It's about aging, adjusting to it, even loving it. It is to be celebrated. Elders and Seniors are to be honored. The book is funny and insightful. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/Jhm6Ctr4/dick-van-dyke-book.jpg)

Interesting thoughts. I’m 82 yoa.
First; old age is a privilege that is denied to many. Don’t sweat it. It’s temporary. Arthritis is a bitch. Stuff hurts and there is no cure. Again, not everyone lives long enough to get it. Only the lucky ones. No worry about paternity suits, child support payments, etc. I’ve climbed a lot of mountains and now just enjoy them with binoculars. Climbing a mountain is a lot easier than going down. This covers a lot of life. Like getting in and then out of trouble. Be careful of what you wish for. If not selective, you might get more than you thought you needed. Having children is ok but expensive but that’s the only way to get grandkids. Getting out of trouble is a lot harder ithan getting into it. Kinda like jail. Divorce lawyers for fathers are wasted money. You’re gonna get screwed. You don’t need to tell a divorced father about the need for woman’s rights or that justice is blind. Don’t bother asking him if he had a good lawyer. That judge has made up his mind about your future before you put up the big $ for a lawyer.
There’s a bunch more but that’s enough pessimistic, experienced, wisdom, for one day.

Got to the lease yesterday turned the water on at the pump house and drove into camp. Turned the water on at the spigot outside of camp and of course it was leaking. Tried a quick fix and got sprayed head to toe. Turned it off and told the wife I’ll fix it the next day (today). Got out there this morning and got it fixed. Came back to the trailer and that connection was leaking. After many trips back and forth to the spigot and adding and subtracting hose ends, I finally got it fixed. Now I’m pooped! Wife want to go plinking now…

If a younger person dis's you for being old, they don't have anything on you. I learned this when I won the push up challenge at the site I worked at, probably 200+ male employees with about 30 or so participants. I think I did 68, I was 55. A very proud Hispanic in his late 20's took the loss especially hard. He addressed me as "old man" afterwards. I addressed him as lard a--.......he went to HR. What a worm. Be your best, no matter your age. I think it was Oxner, someone was giving him crap for being old. His response, "I can't help my age but you could go on a diet."
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

I'm 63 and I was at the Doctor awhile back and had to answer the questionnaire, it ask if I had problems falling down. When I seen the doctor I ask about that question and he said well do you ? I said no I'm pretty damn good at it . He couldn't stop laughing .

Driftwood, I had the same thing with my Doc when he asked if I had problems urinating. I said no but I have problems getting to the can in time.
