It has to be one of the most disgusting habits out there. I drove by someone sitting down and waiting on a bus about an hour ago. They were smoking and I could smell the smoke with my windows up and AC on. Disgusting.

Back in the old days in the Navy, we even smoked on the submarine on patrol. The government made it easy, as there were no taxes and they were $2.50 a carton, and the limit was 20 cartons per person. Non-smokers bought their full ration to trade off to the people who ran out!!!

Smoked for almost 40 years and tried to quit using patches, gum, shots, and even hypnotism - without success. Finally decided to quit cold turkey 17 years ago. The addiction lasted a week or so, but after that, I never wanted another one ever again.

A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

I live in the suburbs. The Neighbors Wife on the west side of my house is a smoker. Disgusting. Nothing worse than working on the car in the garage and starting to smell freaking cigarettes

Few things smell worse to a former smoker than a burning cigarette.

I will never, NEVER understand why smoking is lambasted, and drinking/partying/getting drunk, is applauded and funny.

To me, being addicted to alcohol is way, WAY worse than smoking.

A driver is not impaired while smoking a cigarette, overall that is. However, a drinker is definitely impaired and can kill.
People do not smoke cigarettes, then the personalities change and become mean, abusive. A drunk can and often does.
I know that not all drinkers become abusive, but many do.

Addendum: I do not like cigarette smoke, nor do I condone it. I am just commenting on this topic.
Addendum II: I do like cigars and my pipes. I use them on occasion.

That's why I make my Ol' lady do it outside away from the doorway.

I got one of the chairs off the porch and put it out by the workshop filled her a coffee can with sand to put them out in, see I'm a nice guy.

No matter what it is addiction is hard to break, smoking, drinking, you name it.

Almost everyone smoked back then, my parents smoked in the car and house. I wasn’t good.

Same for myself and siblings. I never wanted anything to do with it.

All but 2 uncles smoked. They are the only 2 still alive.

Lighting birthday cakes was easier back then.

Not everyone who is having a drink is partying or getting drunk. Never heard it referred to as being funny either. I have seen some that wear it like badge of honor on here from time to time though. They were probably inebriated at the time though. confused2 People that smoke expose anyone around them to 2nd hand smoke though. It drives insurance cost up for everyone who doesn`t smoke also. Every time someone inhales any tobacco products it is like driving one more nail in their coffin.

Addendum: I hate cigarettes.
