Have to go Sat night. Last one was 7 years ago and I’ve been on the hose since then. Now that I’m in Medicare they want a new study before they’ll replace my broken machine. Kinda azz backwards since I did so bad on my last study and Dr pretty much said I’d die without my machine. So I’ve been without my CpAP for a freeking month now! Not really having the effects now that I had previously like severe tiredness. Hoping the 30lbs I’ve lost means my sleep apnea has subsided. Oh yea…Medicare sucks compared to Tricare!

Once you have it you have it.
Weight loss helps, but it does not go away.

Good luck, Jimbo. Not looking forward to transitioning away from Tricare.

That's where I think I'm landing. I have sleep apnea that was found by the doc almost accidentally and I don't really need to lose weight. When I had my sleep study and the diagnosis made, the sleep doc told me other docs would later try to get me to do another study. He said to not entertain that at all.

Wishful thinking in my part. It is odd that in the month that I’ve been without my CPAP, I feel fine and the wife says I sleep well with no snoring or abrupt movements. When I was in the hospital for a week 3 years ago I didn’t bring my CPAP and she had to shake me awake many times when I stopped breathing. Dr made her bring my machine.

We took a double hit in Dec when I started Medicare and Tricare switched us (the wife) over to TriWest. Lots of confusion.

Got to the clinic and their computers were down. Sent me home. Oh well. I do feel bad for the elderly couple I saw going in as a I was leaving. Sucked driving in the rain with the Sat night traffic. I was really tired and could have slept right away too!

Don’t recall getting a full 8 hours over a couple of times in my 82 years. Mostly about 6.

What’s funny is they have a $50 charge if you no show or cancel within 24hrs. I should charge them $50 for canceling on me after I’m already there!

Make friends with the man that sells you your CPAP. They have refurbished units you can buy for $150. Buy several. I have three. One for the house, one that I leave at the lease and one that I keep in the truck.

I haven’t been “thin” since my 20’s and never had it until mid 50’s. Dr told me it’s probably here to stay as it’s not all on weight but the airway, but once in a blue moon weight loss will take care of it.
