Perception is a funny thing, especially with ones age and view of others older or younger. At 69 years young I do not consider myself an old fart although I kid about it every now and then, yet I poke fun at people that are 70 and older like they are a generation older than me Also get a laugh out of these youngster that talk about being old at 40, never would have heard that out of my mouth not even in my 50's. So about how old are you and do you consider yourself a youngster, old fart or a ? ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2025/03/full-1274-447238-old_age.jpg)

I’m old enough and young enough to see it both ways.

Dazed and Confused was made 32 years ago, 1993. If that's a shock, then, you are old too. Sitting here now watching old CSI Miami's and laugh every time I see Speedle, Slater on D&C, LOL.

My mind is a 16-year-old kid. But my body is an 80-year-old Old Fart. These days, it seems my body has veto power over my mind.
If you can't laugh at yourself, give me a call. I'll gladly laugh at you. "I keep trying to see Nancy Pelosi's and Chuck Schumer's point of view, but I can't seem to get my head that far up my [censored]." Senator John Kennedy, Louisiana

I’m 77, and I guess that’s pretty darned old. I see people my age that really do look and move like elderly people (walkers and oxygen and such as that).but I’m lucky that I can still do the things that need to be done around the ranch. Aspirin helps.
I think I’m officially old, but don’t usually feel like it. Well…flopping around under the guest house while doing plumbing the other day made me sore. A young guy would have been fine in 24 hours, but it was 48 hours or so for me.
If a fellow is just waiting around to die, with nothing to do but whine, I guess he’d really be old - physically and mentally. I’m too busy.
Not my monkeys, not my circus...

I’m a few months from 40.
40 is a sobering age where you realize that you are on the downhill slide, could be a very slow and gradual slide, but a slide nonetheless.
You’re past your peak physically. You are noticing every time you lose a step or two.
I wish I could have my 30 year old body with the maturity and wisdom I have now. That would be ideal.
Mentally I still think I’m 25, but 25 year olds look like little kids to me. People my age look normal and 50 year olds look really old. Strange time in life.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Stub…I’m the same age as you.
I don’t consider my age as any different than people that I interact with…most of whom are younger. I’m fortunate to not have any health issues, so I never really think about my age, other than some stuff hurts more than it used to!
I probably drive a little slower, hit the little round ball shorter, watch what I eat a little more, get mad more slowly…but still jump on a cutting horse, go to shows at Billy Bob’s that don’t get me home until after 1 in the morning,…all things that I think keep father time at bay…
I guess I think that not giving in to age keeps me rolling….but I did go to school with a LOT of old people!!

53. Young enough to get out here and do hard work on my ranch but old enough to hurt myself while sleeping every now and then.

55 here, and my body occasionally lets me know about it. Have an appointment with orthopedic surgeon in two weeks to see about fixing my shoulder again. Can’t throw a 65 pound pack on my back and jog up the side of a mountain like I did 20 years ago either. Between bum shoulders and knees, I have slowed down quite a bit a bit. Ibuprofen is now my best friend a lot of days.

I am 78 and feel lucky to still be alive. I have a lot of things I want to do but my body doesn’t always let me. It amazes me how quick it happened. Only 5 years ago I could still work 6 to 8 hours with thinking about it to hard now if I get 2 or 3 hours I am doing good
some people like silver and gold I like brass and lead with a little powder in between

At 63 I am an old fart but still able to work all day and coach my grandkids. Can't run like I used to and it takes a little longer to get over an injury. Having lots of fun being an old kid.

Im 46 and my body feels old. Ive had 3 back surgeries with a 3 level fusion and new herniations above the fusion. Ive had one knee surgery and now both my knees are shot, my hands are painful and swelling, guessing some type of arthritis. High blood pressure and sleep apnea. Im 6'1" and 210 lbs. Sleep apnea isnt due to weight, still had it when i was skin and bones at 175. And for the last two years ive felt a mental decline and memory issues. All that makes me feel old.

I'm 57 this year. After more than two decades at my company I got packaged out this month. My wife is still working. I'm thinking about hanging it up. At least I'm going to take off 6 month to catch my breath and spend time with family and taking on overdue DIY. The plan was to retire in three years from now. Definitely do not want to go back to the corporate squid game grind if I do go back for a couple of years.
I think that's what made me want to respond to this post. My mind has just had it with working in a corporate environment. I'm over the games and I'm ready to start taking stock of and being fully vested in my remaining years to live, give thanks and serve.
Edited to add this. Like many of you guys I'm feeling the years on my body. Try to always be smart...always exercise with weights and the stationary bike. Always try to eat pretty well. Need to step it up though in every facet. Noting I gave up competitive sports and running years ago and gave up riding motorcycles to avoid traumatic injuries.
The goal is to eat more natural foods, stay in shape, take on every DIY in my life possible. I find it very positive with DIYs of laying on my back, getting on my knee padded knees, sweating and getting cold... working with our hands is good for the mind, body and bank account ffor sure.

Many of the same issues here at 50 years. Some lifestyles or careers take a tremendous toll on the body. You may wanna get checked for Low T, by the way. Mentally, I'm still young... kinda like I'm "old enough to know better, but still too young to care."

I am 78 years old. And like most elderly gentlemen my body is that old, but my brain did not age as much. I enjoy life. I stay active. I don't have any money problems. I try to stay away from doctors as much as I can. I was once told by a doctor that the body is an amazing thing. If you let it it will a lot of times heal or cure itself. Be happy, enjoy life and don't worry about $hit you have no control over.

It is a mindset. My mind is 20, but my body tells me differently.
In the end of days, walk with a Bible in one hand and a pistol in the other.
I'm not ready to die, but I'm prepared to die.
