Does it matter if your AK is made somewhere else? Was wondering how interchangeable the parts are. (Like ar-15 interchangeability) Can’t stop thinking about a tactical AK since the gorge movie came out

AKs were sky high last few years. I assume they've come down a bit like everything else.
Some parts will swap between countries, majority will not at least on SKSs that I've seen. Maybe AKs are different?

Yes.
Main sects are US, China, Egypt, Euro, Russia. All have quirks and differences. US? Arsenal hold value, Century do not. PSA is a better choice than Century even if Century has improved. Can't beat the old bad rap. WASRs used to be the cheap "good" ones (I turned one down because it was way too expensive at $400 not too many years ago) but they're high now.
Their ammo has doubled too... or worse. Corrosive surplus steel case is $0.50 per round. Five years ago you could get Golden Tiger (the best steel case 7.62X39 there is but imported from Russia) for $230 per 1K shipped.
Pass the gravy.

The only AK I've ever messed with is a psak that I have. Had no issues with it. Is it as good as a Russian one, I don't know, most Russian stuff I've messed with has been crap, but I have had no Russian AKs and am by no means in AK expert Russian or otherwise

Zastava and James River Armory make solid rifles as well. Both of those will be around the 1000$ mark depending on the model. I bought my first zastava from classic firearms 10 years ago for like 450, should have bought 10.
Veper had really nice aks before the imports got shut down and they went through the roof. Same story with saiga.
Best bang for $ will be catching PSA "blem" sale on a PSAK .
Parts interchangeability is not as simple as an AR. There's a lot of different patterns of AKs depending where it's made. Triggers , stocks, and muzzle devices are simple enough. Connections between AR parts are often some form of pining or screw etc. AKs are riveted and pressed together.
