Given his advanced age and now divulged severe Alzheimers, kind of surprising periodic home healthcare didn't seem to be utilized, whether his wife was in good health or not, appearedly they didn't lack financial resources. Kind of strange.

Kind of strange. Everything was probably fine until his only caretaker dropped dead. Doesn’t seem strange to me in my experience.

While he still had capability, he might have left instructions to maintain privacy so as not to have a photo and information showing up in a tabloid.

Yeah, pretty far fetched concept to have periodic health welfare checks on a 95 yo, 6'2, former world class actor man with debilitating Alzheimers, a pacemaker and health history of heart attacks being cared for by his 5'2, 65 yo wife. Not saying that would have prevented her from contracting the infected rodent, Hantavirus but could have prevented him from dying 6-7 days later, wandering around the house in an Alzheimer stupor until his demise and their dog's. Medical opinions are that he was likely unaware that wife had even passed on given his mental state. Sad situation all the way around.

I guess just another thing somes would want the government to come in, take control of and then create even more issues. He be dead. Nothing you can do about that other than think there should be some system in place where someone could periodically check on a man of extreme age, guardful of his privacy, faiilng health, huge monetary resources and had set up his own end of life care? What would the periodic have checks accomplished? Found them dead earlier or saved hm to prolong his suffering? Choices are choices.

I wouldn’t want to exist in that capacity.

Glad you interjected government into discussion as I had not. I was talking privately paid home healthcare, pretty sure they had the money but as you stated choices are choices and they made the ones they made. Regarding death, yeah I don't look forward to it but certainly not afraid of it. Obviously, you know next to nothing about what would or would not scare me.

He died when he lost his personal care taker. Thinking here this worked out as per his desires would've been prior to his getting the dreaded Alzheimers. Wonder if he knoew what was going on and actually made this choice.

I hate it when some of the better contributors on here get a little sideways.

I’m pretty out of the loop on this.
I am Not watching a 28 minutes video. Sounds like Hackmans wife and primary caretaker died of what they list as natural causes. Him not being able to care for himself, then died. Sad situation. but It does happen.

Sad situation. but It does happen. That sums up the video close enough. Doesn’t seem anyone knows what/why he did for a week or so after she died, but evidently very advanced stages of dementia and heart issues so I dont know how that effects someone. Evidently the dog had been sick and was in a kennel so seems he died of no food or water.

Sad situation. Life isn’t all roses.
There wasn’t much of a sideways move but, there was more alignment or at least an understanding. Right, like minded people will never agree 100%.
