My son and I are headed out to the Dan A Hughes unit this evening for the youth hunt. When is your hunt? We go next weekend for the white tail hunt in the Del Norte Unit. Good luck!

I'm not sure which devils river we hunted on a youth hunt but I wouldn't be hunting WTs. I would be hunting aoudads. It's one of the best public hunts in Texas. Get high and glass and have fun. Send me a PM with your cell and I'll send you some pictures. However, we did see one big WT buck but generally we saw exotics and not WTs. And aoudads move all day. I would hunt all day and not just early and late

Do you have to get drawn for hunting permits? Yes, and its pretty difficult. We got lucky with our draw points, but for one guy it took 27 points.

You all did better than way many I have seen. Damn good hunters. Don, the first 2.5 days we didnt see anything but a few sheep. Others were killing daily, but we stuck with it, and all killed our animals within 1.5 hour of each other on the last day. Many of the hunters had already gone home. We just stuck with it.
