Why would this be attributed to tariffs on MX and Canadian products?

Why would American vehicle manufacturers make their products in Canada and Mexico?

This is why we need tariffs. Bring the manufacturing home.

Because lots get better value out of products made overseas. Consider vehicles made in South Korea, Japan, Europe and more.

But many of the overseas companies manufacture their vehicles here in the United States. Weird.

Does anybody remember the push for maquilladores? There was a time, not too long ago, we were encouraging the manufacturing of products in Mexico. We need consistency in our trade agreements as well as fairness.

Not in Texas. SouthEast including Texas out produces Canada

Labor rates and lack of EPA= Mexico

Japan produces Tacoma in Mexico but Tundra in U.S.

This has always been Democrat push. Bought and paid for by big business to outsource to Mexico for higher profit margins. kind of a perfect shake down, by democrats when you consider how they run the EPA as their henchmen

I do remember the border maquiladoras. Worked for a company that provided dedicated trucking service. We had to have an armed escort going back to border.

That means makeup artist in Spanish. Like an actor would use.

I took a hunting blind into Mexico last year, had to provide a receipt. They charged me 20% tax to bring it in. Do all imports into Mexico get the same tax?

It’s an easy mistake to make. The reason I know is because I made it once in an email to our Mexico office with a previous company. Just thought it was a funny memory.

Hurt me already. My wife grows roses. Back in the fall she put in a large order for plants from a grower on Canada to be delivered in the spring. Bought and paid for in October. They ship next week and they just informed us we jave to pay an extra $300 on tariffs. We buy from US growers as well but some varieties only certain growers carry. It sucks but I understand what he is doing.

Had circuit boards and wiring harnesses made by maquiladoras. Most didn't work. Off-book US company made stuff that did work. Home office finally found out and stopped the Mexico contracts.

I stocked up on fishing stuff before the prices go up and stuff gets hard to find. Most fishing tackle and tackle parts are made in China or Mexico. Alot of the suppliers are not going to be ordering as much until they see what the demand is after the price hikes. I ran into lots of problems during Covid getting tackle and parts I needed and I expect the same to happen this time around as well. I think the supply issues will start much more slowly this time than during the Covid BS, but once the supply sitting on store shelves and in warehouses dries up people will start to feel the effects. That goes for just about everything, not just fishing tackle.

So far everything I usually buy is still at "normal" prices.

Not sure this increase is tariff related. I think this is more related to DOE energy standards and commitment to 454B. This increase was predicted before tariff threats.

I bet tariffs will be top of this.

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

One last thought on tariffs.

Tariff is a freight charge at point of entry. it would seem to me, a tariff would be treated as a toll fee, excise tax, handling fee or any other onetime fee. A tariff should be accessed at value of goods at manufactured cost. It should not be added to cost of goods if applied to proper P/L line.

Anyone know?

I bought a Rivian last weekend...had done a bunch of research and came to the conclusion I was going to install a Grizzl-E phase 2 charger (made in Canada) in the garage...Monday it went from $339 to $379. I don't believe in coincidences so I associated it with the tarriffs. Unfortunate for Grizzl-E, I found another option...I was going to spend $40 more than the other option but I won't spend $80.

I read that for a while Puerto Rico was making a lot of our meds until the tax breaks we were giving them expired. Then a lot of the pharmaceutical companies moved to China. You'd think we would want to move them back. confused2
