The people entering the ramp do not have the right of way. You seem to know this, since you mentioned it. The problem is that you use this as an excuse to ride in the left lane. Or maybe you’re talking about more than two lanes. That would be important information if that’s the case.

Use whatever statistics you want. Truckers do act like they own the road. It’s obvious. You don’t want to admit it because you are one. It’s the same with law enforcement. You want to criticize them and they don’t want to be criticized. You can’t pick on any profession if you aren’t willing to be picked on within your profession. Be fair. Show some consistency.

I don’t pick on cops, I love cops. If you are really paying attention, they do most of the picking around here.

I will agree with you that the dudes trying to pass a governed truck in another governed truck just barely faster are obnoxious. Most truckers can’t stand that either. And if someone is trying to pass you, how hard is it to tap the brake or turn the cruise control off for 5 freaking seconds? That’s all it takes to let the faster truck get by. It’s not a race, it’s gonna cost you 5-10 seconds off the clock to let the faster truck get by. I have gotten stuck behind plenty of them trying to play that game. Like they are drag racing at 67 vs 68 mph, or one is empty and one is loaded so they are back and forth up and down hill. It ought to be a law. And we will remember them for stuff like that. Which truck number, carrier, etc. It’s a small world, I have seen dudes fight over less.

Big city driving in a rig is challenging. I honestly don’t think most folks even understand what’s going on at the on-ramp. We do our best to avoid collisions. I think it is proof of a merciful God that fatal accidents don’t occur at on-ramps in every big city every single day.

Most have no clue about the challenges of driving a big rig. Much less in traffic. None. Nor do they show any courtesy or have any appreciation for the fact that all of the goods they depend on to sustain their urban lifestyle are trucked in. All of them. “biting the hand that feeds them”.
Does something in the brain twist, or is there some type of herd mentality phenomenon that sets in when everyone is shoe horned onto the freeway? Or is it entitlement?

It's a real idiot move to drive in a non-emergency with flashers on. If the situation is deemed unsafe enough to need them, it is too unsafe to drive for that individual. It's a new thing I never saw in the country until less then ten years ago and certainly not in the city more than 20 years ago. Has to be a yankee or cali thing and it's like a disease. Why? What if for any reason (almost there now) people drove with their flashers on? Now no one stands out and the flashers help zero. The change in culture planted by the dems that says deviancy should be acceptable is behind the shift that allows even 10% of people to think flashers in the rain is okay. For over 100 years it was not just unacceptable but taught NOT to do it. Now 1/3 of a relatively conservative forum thinks it's okay.

Reminds me of a Seinfeld episode (my wife says I think Seinfeld addressed everything in life) when Elaine saw Mr. Pitt eating a candy bar with a knife and fork. George did that and by the end of the episode everyone was eating their candy bars with a knife and fork.

Truckers.....Ive had my license 58 years and I can never remember a truck driver doing anything stupid. Never. Im sure it happens but I drive an average amount and I dont recall noticing this. I guess if I had a constant negative outlook on life I could look for it and maybe see it. However, I do notice and am amazed truckers can maneuver through traffic in the way they do.
If a trucker, or anyone, takes a little while to pass it doesnt bother me. I am always in a hurry also, but so what, its just a part of life. Its selfish to think others should lay back and never pass just so that you dont have to lay back a little. Unless its an emergency, JUST SLOW DOWN. There are roses out there that need smelling.
Flashers.... I dont condone using them with any regularity at all and I dont. Thanks to Guzzler for pointing out that if everybody did it all the time then they would lose their purpose/effectiveness. To me they should be used if, FOR WHATEVER REASON, you feel you need to go much slower than other traffic or pull over. That could be weather related or mechanical issues. Just last night I drove up on a car on I20 that was going about 40 in a 70 and he had flashers on. No idea why he was going slow but I assume he had a good reason and Im glad his flashers were on. Dont yall get that?
Lastly.....Yall can say im too tolerant, but driving in traffic is going to be a little crazy at times. It just is. Expect it and except it and your blood pressure will thank you.
