Does anyone have some first hand experience with the Ruger gen 2 predator? I’ve read a lot of good things just not sure what’s real or paid promoters. For the $ I don’t think you can bea it.

I have a 16" Gen 2 Ranch in 22 ARC, and its shooter for sure. I put way too much time and effort into load development for that thing. It didn't need it. It shoots sub MOA in about anything I make for it. I liked it so much I just picked up the same gun in 308 a few days ago to use for my truck gun. I have a bunch of high end expensive bolt guns but that little Gen 2 Ranch ARC is starting to be my favorite. It isn't as smooth and refined as my fancy safe queens (LOL!) but the just plain work. I am a Cabelas club member and they have 10% off days for members once or twice a month and I make use of their price match policy (they will beat by 5% same gun from authorized dealer) I paid $478 for the 308. I got the 22 ARC a few dollars cheaper. You can't beat them for the money. I have not shot the 308 yet. will report back when I do.

I sighted in one in 6.5 CM, it shot well. My only complaint is the trigger is terrible but it’s seems to be a pretty easy fix with a Trimney

I had one until a few hours ago in 6ARC but sold it. I have also sighted in 4 others and I agree with above they all shot well but triggers aren’t the very good.
Mine had a Jard set at 13oz and it was a good setup but I decided to move it and added another 22 Creedmoor and also a Bergara 223

Depends on what "for the money" means.

If you find a great deal on one at around $500, I agree there isn't much competition.

If you're paying $700 out the door, I'm starting to consider other options for sure.

By the time you buy a trigger on top of the gun, I don't see the value proposition anymore.

I've performed load development on several Ruger Americans. .223, 6.5 Creedmoor and .308. Every single one of them ended up shooting sub half MOA at 200 yards.

I would like for Ruger to make one more pass on the bolt, when it is in the lathe, and remove the grooves that are on the length of the bolt.

With Tikka around’ 700, I would agree. If you could find RAG2 sub 500 then it’s becomes a lot closer

With that said there is $30 trigger spring option I just haven’t used it, so I cant comment

All of mine are Sub MOA shooters. 308,243,270. I added the trigger spring and bedded the stocks. Also polished the bolts just because I like doing that to my rifles. I do agree by the time you spend doing those things you can get into a Tikka. Cant go wrong in my opinion.

All good points. The ruger also comes with a threaded barrel and a picatinny rail so to speak. With all the features I don’t mind putting in a trigger. To get a Tikka with the same options is over a grand.

i have the gen 2 in 223 and i cant complain , also have 3 gen 1`s in 6.5 grendel, 7.62x39 , and 300blk they all shoot great but they stepped up the game with the gen 2 as far as the stock , barrel and safety so i think for the money there hard to beat .
