So, I'm assuming corn prices may fall with less being exported to China and Mexico. Kinda hits the farmers in the wallet for the time being, but deer corn should drop some. I figure this is a negotiating tool and will even out eventually
Thoughts??

My local feed store went up either $.25 or $.50 on the last shipment. I only needed 30 sacks but he was already overpriced. Chaps my arse.

Feed store we use went up $ .25 due to his cost going up. Read this morning that Canada and China jacked their export fees up again. I truly have no idea which way this will go!!!

I will gladly pay extra in exchange for a more conservative environment due to political leaders that care about the direction of our nation.

It would be nice if our elected leaders would get everyone to a table and work out a logical agreement, as opposed to acting like children and pulling some fake number out of the sky and putting our trade partners on blast.

I try not to get to much into the political scene because it gets me into trouble most of the time. I am however tired of (US) trying to save the world. Lets take care of (us) first. Vets, homeless, hurricane /tornado impacted areas first before we go do Seasme street in some s*i* hole country that will never appreciate us and lined some politicians pocket. Sorry, got off track slightly - it all starts with energy. Think about it- everything we touch starts with oil or some form of its derivative. When the former administrator quit drilling the price of oil went up affecting all Americans for the last 4 years. Fuel cost goes up as a result (diesel-farmers)(corn) its all tied together.
Stompy raises an interesting question in his original post ? If you take the time to research President Trump at all find "The Art of The Deal" he's negotiating! Look at how many countries have been taking advantage of the U.S. with tariffs or Value Added taxes (Europe). He's just trying to equalize the playing field. My vote is give him time and space and watch. And don't listen to mainstream channels because they all lie or have a very liberal slanted twist. Remember the American public spoke up loud and clear, give him and DOGE time .......

Won’t hurt farmers, corn futures are almost the same as they where this time last year, pre planting
Soy bean that’s a different story.
No corn for 25 has been planted yet, if market falls significantly (futures contracts) between now and then, Farmers will shift to alternative summer/fall crop, rest fields, or simply plant less

Corn prices are not going to go down. Correct. Neither are building supplies (particularly lumber) or any service that businesses have discovered people will continue to buy/use, despite price increases. Once prices go UP, sellers are loathe to lower them.

Less demand from exports could bring prices down for a bit. Good for folks buying deer corn, but tough on farmers. Hopefully, things balance out before too long.

You do realize we export less than 20% of our corn crop…. We don’t import a significant % of corn out of need, as we do do some hold handing to help Canada @ roughly $238million. US grown corn market is roughly $90 billion for size reference. Essentially if we stopped all corn imports and exports, corn prices would probably be affected very little. Tariffs and corn prices are nothing more then speculation. A lot of corn was already contracted at $5 any way
