Anyone have any experience? I'm running a 30+ year old Scotts riding mower at the ranch. It's constantly a project, but usable. Tractor Supply currently has a 48 month, no interest offer. Wasn't really in a market for a zero turn, but I don't mind using someone else's money for a while.

I have a 10 year old ZTR50 with the kawasaki motor. Never had an issue with it. They're great if you have a relitivly level lot.

Yes, very flat. This one has a Kohler, which I am not mad at either.

I think most of these ZTRs from the big-box stores are pretty equivalent. You wouldn't run them in a commercial setting but cutting 1-2 places during the season isn't really going to stretch them. I bought a used 8-yr old, 325 hr Husqvarna last season, put a battery and fuel cutoff switch in it, and it has performed just fine the 8-10 times I've run it so far. We had a Cub Cadet rider at church for years and it was fine until somebody stole it - CC is a solid brand, IMO.

My neighbor had a Cub Cadet. I had a Toro. We were looking at them one day and realized they were identical. Then he told me they were the same manufacturer. This was a few years ago so I don't know if this is still true. Neither of us had any problems other than wear norparts and routine maintenance, i bought mine in 2012 and it is still going strong. Both mowers had the Kawasaki engine.

Added, I would not buy one from a big box store. They don't do anything but sell the equipment. No service or limited parts can be a problem. Buy from an authorized dealer. We got ours from Tiger Cub in Whitesboro. Good folks to deal with.

I brought up riding mowers/Cadets in the fishing forum last year.

I think what we all learned is that no matter what mower you get, choose a Kawasaki engine over a Kohler.

...!
