For plain Jane, no dialing, duplex reticle, my go to is Leupold. Vx3 2.5-10 is half of your budget. You could do well with a used vari-x as well.

Trijicon accupoint should do it. Really a solid scope. It was one of the first scopes I ever bought and as I have upgraded to leupold then nightforce I have realized how nice the glass really is on that trijicon. The only reason I dont use it anymore is because it is a 3 x 9. My old eyes need some magnification nowadays so I just keep it on the muzzy.

Big Out!

Let's go DOGE!!!!!

There are other factors I'd consider, most personal preferences, in addition to what OP listed that could sway what I get. However, my choice for OP would be a 2.5-10x56 trijicon accupoint. I have one and LOVE it.

Huge front lens so this scope is basically my clearest low light scope, especially at 2.5x.
I think the range of 2.5-10 is ever so slightly better than 3-9.
for such a large scope it is very light weight.
A drawback is no parallax but honestly at 150yds or less i find it to be more a hassle than not, especially in hunting situations.
I kinda like how ridiculous mine looks on my little 16" 300 ham'r AR.

good luck.

KR now that you mention it, I remove my vote for the Vx-5 and go with your choice. $250 less as well.

Check out this Tract Optics 2-10x. You get a lot of scope for your money with these guys.

I will definitely consider this a contender too. I didn't know tract scopes were this affordable. Never looked into them but might in the future.

That trijicon or tract would be on my short list. Something in common with the two that should be looked at is where is it made. I would want my scope made in Japan
Another decent choice might be the Nightforce SHV

3-10x42 SHV is pretty bullet proof, it’s not the best glass in that price range but probably the most durable in that price range, my short list would be the best deal between SHV and accupoint

That’s what I got awhile back. Hardly used at all but appears good.

This. Then take the remainder of the $1K and buy or build ammo.

Zeiss Conquest HD 3x9 40mm. At first and last light, you want German glass. Period.
