The ten speed that GM shares with F*** is not the greatest. No issues whatsoever with the 6-speed Allison but the 10-speed fake Allison (named only) that replaced it are not lasting by percentage like they should. Don't yet know what the common denominator is. The F*** version has anodizing on the main drum that the GM ones don't. I have heard of GM guys putting the F*** drum in. They are very difficult to work on (all the internals basically come out in one wad), the parts are tough to get, and the assemblies are tough to get too. Not sure how much trouble the F***s are having but it's the same transmission with a different valve body and different operating system software from what I can tell.

Pass the gravy.

Good insight, thanks. It makes sense, we had a few issues with the early Ford version, but no so much any more.

Knocking on wood as I type, but my 22 Silverado 2500 with the 6.6 gasser is still running strong at 125,000 miles. Just realized that means I have burned through about 10,000 gallons of gas in the last 28 months. I know a new transmission is likely in my near future, though.

The all wheel steering is what we use 95% of the time. But now and then, the crabwalk steering is a life saver. That’s used in tight spaces moving heavy loads around. Probably anyone buying that vehicle would never have any practical use for it, but if they ever did, they’d be glad it was available.

Useful, maybe, but worth the added price to an already over loaded vehicle, as they all are. I don't want a vehicle to do everything, just get me from 1 place to another safely and comfortably.

I remember when my dad refused to buy a car with power windows as they just weren't reliable. I imagine today if I ever bought a new truck (never) I would feel the same way about the crab walk feature. What the heck. To me it seems like another future point of failure.

I had one for a while the last time they tried this. When was that? I never had any trouble, but I worried about it going kaput.

Fours years from 2002 to 2005. What's an odd find now is a 3/4 ton Suburban with 4WS. They're out there.

Pass the gravy.
