In need of recommendations for a heavy-duty brand. I have a pile of wings I need to clean up to clear up space in my freezer to start using for dog work. The stocking stuffer orange handle Gerber ones I have aren't worth a lick.

For a job like that I'd use some limb snips from home depot.

I have a pair of Case game shears. I've had them for 50 years. Don't know if they have changed but I have cleaned a ton of dove and quail with them over the years and they have been perfect. The are lightly serrated on one side.

Man I was going to suggest Gerber. The ones I bought years ago are still going strong. I have no complaints

I have a pair of Case and I hate them. Bought some cheap Rapala shears off Amazon and they’re great.

Used from EBAY they will still set you back $70-$80 or more...but the old style chrome, take apart CUTCO shears are what you are looking for. Mine have done thousands of dove wings and hundreds and hundreds of ducks, since my first wife bought them for me in 1979...then you will need to find a CUTCO rep to sharpen them correctly... about every 5 years

Me too. The pair I have is over 20 years old. I’ve used them on hundreds of geese. No telling how many ducks. Also used them on a whole bunch of pheasant.

Gerber for me as well. I'm still using a pair I bought back in the 90's. I've bought a few more pairs since then because I was afraid they would quit making them.

My Gerber's broke last year. The plastic handle that's molded onto the metal shear broke. I had them 25-30 years. Bought another pair. We'll see how long they last.

I’ve also got a pair that old. They aren’t as sharp as they used to be, but still work for dove and quail.

Take a look at Helen's Asian Kitchen Shears or the Joyce Chen Kitchen Shears.

These aren't heavy duty, but are very well made and super sharp. I use them for everything from doves to ducks, and they'll even work on turkey joints. Well priced, too.
