Our local one is hit and miss, I get a blizzard there once a month or maybe twice. Back when I was in HS, the old ladies that ran our DQ kept it super clean, and the food was good. They are long gone now and the medicated kids work it. They all seem stoned. The Hickeys DQ in Mineral Wells is a good one, and they are building a new one behind it.

I haven’t had a good experience at DQ in years. You know something’s up when they can’t legally call their desserts ice cream and have to change the name to soft serve.

If it wasn’t for the M&M Blizzards, they could all shut down. I’m with you

The one in Seymour needs to close, or fire all employees and start over!

Have appraised several from College Station to Karnes City so far same old lady owned all those. The Richesons own the DQ's in Pilot Point and Sanger plus 50 or so more around Texas. I think they are one of the cheaper franchises to own so some franchisees own multiple units. I believe Barney Chapman and family had like maybe as many as 200 units at one time. What a personnel nightmare that would be. Can you imagine riding herd over those employees.

The DQ in Brownwood is terrible. We used to eat there frequently but it's just gotten so bad we don't go there anymore I wish it was good but it's just not.

They are going to tear down the one in Stephenville by the University and build a new one on the loop. It is over 60 years old. Tarleton want the land to build on. They are building a new one in Commerce.

I've heard a rumor that some restaurants are having trouble getting employees since the dreaded 19 and Americans started getting paid not to work.

DQ may not be fine dining, but in a lot of small towns, they are almost the only option. Sometimes its DQ or Allsups burrito

All 25 closing are owned by one franchise owner. Project Lonestar owns all of the closing locations I believe. The closings are due to legal matters pertaining to franchisee agreements from what I've read.

Since covid almost all our local hole in the wall taco places have reduced hours and days of operation. They say it is because they can’t find and keep bell.

I love the DQ turtle Pecan Blizzard. The problem is there is no consistency in how they are made at different franchise locations. DQ Corporate does not take responsibility for franchises that don’t live up to their advertised standards.

When I was going to SFA in the early '80s there were two DQs in Nac. The newer on North Street and an old one down on South Street that didn't have a dine in option. The food was better at the one on North St but the ice cream was better at the one on South St.
Still like a DQ Dude every now and then, but those mess with my blood sugar like crazy.

The other reason restaurants and retail are cutting hours and business/stores, is because a lack of younger employees, no doubt.
The younger generation is trying to make money on social media by getting "clicks and likes, thus viewers."
Working at DQ, Whataburger and WalMart is for "old people" now.

I have been to a few DQs that I wondered how they were still in business, they only had a few customers and service was really slow.
