Worked my way through college waiting tables and bartending at the Dallas Inwood Steak and Ale - great restaurant. Looks like they are trying to franchise it. Hope it works out.

My parents liked the one at Spring Valley and Central. Had to get a Club Membership but they could get a drink or glass of wine with dinner (1970s).
I took several dates to the one on Beltline in Addison.

I don’t know about bringing MW back. That is the only store I have been banned from in my life. At least, I was banned from the tire center.

That link looks like they are finally going to bring it back - I've been hearing about their supposed comeback for many years. It was out of my price range when I was younger, so I can still remember the few girls I took on a date there

"Monkey Wards." They and Sears - only stayed in business as they would write off CC debt. Sis-in-law was a bookkeeper for Steak and Ale long time ago. Quit after she met the 'Boss' from Chitown". They won't be back.

Washed dishes and cooked at the one on Anderson Ln. in Austin. '70-'72. The busboys would bring the dirty dishes and wasted food and I'd bag the meat for my dog. He ate VERY well...

Seems like it would be hard to start up a restaurant chain now a days, there ain't no help to hire and putting up a new building would be expensive.

As stated on another thread, kids think they're going to be "influencers" (the height of narcissism), but, this too shall pass...if parents will let them get hungry enough.

ha ha - when I worked there during college we would sack up the uneaten steaks and put them into a bag - I would drive home to my fraternity house and it was a feast for all of us - when you are dead broke in college you will eat any food you can - the best part about working there was they would give each employee whatever they wanted to eat when they came to work other than steak - so we would hammer the salad bar, sides, etc. and then haul the left over steak home and eat it - crazy times!

They sold me a set of Kelly tires that would not balance. Took truck back to them multiple times and they still couldn’t fix it and wouldn’t take them back. Went across the street to the Firestone dealer and had them try. They checked wheels for issues and tried rotating the tires around the wheels to balance. Nothing worked. I called the MW tire store manager and told him the tires were trash and I wanted my money back. He still refused. I had Firestone install a set of tires and told the MW guy he could take the tires back or I would dump them in the parking lot. He did take them back but told me I was banned from the store. I was very much OK with that.
