Question for the group. When we bought our house it had a detached 600 sq ft shop. The shop had mdf flooring which had multiple places of rot due to leaks. I had 3/4 chip board placed over it before I moved all of my shop equipment into it. I would like to lay a hardwood floor over that so it looks a little better and has tremendous durability. This is a shop that is not climate controlled unless I am out there. it has a wood stove for heat and 2 window units for cooling.
is there anything I need to do before laying the new floor? underlayment? vapor barrier? etc?

Vapor barrier and level it. Current rotten spots are these from ground leaks or roof leaks?
These need addressed also and not just covered up.

Thanks Angus. Leaks were from the roof and that was replaced before we moved in. Going today to look at some flooring so hopefully will be working on this in the next weeks.

Why not consider an epoxy or polyurea coating. Will hold up forever and is stable in all weather conditions.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect. Some people live an entire lifetime & wonder if they ever made a difference in the world, a veteran doesn't have that problem. Reagan
