My roofer told me to make sure that my insurance co knows that I have a new roof even though documentation has been sent stating this. I called my agent at Geico and he said that the customer is responsible for letting them know of the new roof. Sure enough my policies on my house and a rental property did not reflect a new roof. I received a refund of $1045 today and am expecting another refund. This makes no sense to me, my insurance approved the claim and paid for the roofs. Why wouldn't they document the new roofs?

Good question - I think most companies do have systems in place to automatically account for this. Age and type of roof plays a big role in home insurance pricing these days.

Insurance companies love collection premiums, payouts...not so much.

Thanks guys. New roof last year and I just contacted them to make sure they knew.
At some point in life its time to quit chasing the pot of gold and just enjoy the rainbow. FR
