I am wanting to get into archery hunting for NEXT season. What are some good entry level bows that are still good enough quality? I was thinking about the Diamond "Rock" Any suggestions are appreciated.

I'd buy a used bow. You find some pretty good deals.

I bought a Reflex Excursion off craigslist for 1/8 the cost and it was never hunted with (like new) had all the goodies put on it and I can group 12 arrows in a bullseye at 20 yrds. probably put $350 in it Ready to Hunt. to me (its all about the practice).

Everyone should beleive in something ,I beleive I'll go Fishing and Hunting.

Find a Mathew's Ultra Max - used. 10 years old, but Mathews has lifetime warranty on the limbs. If you can find one with accessories and recently restrung, you'll be good to go for a while. Relatively short, light, quiet and fast. Look up the specs on it will compare with most new bows out today. I've got one and a DXT. The UltraMax is quieter and smoother. ..agree with Jgiles though - find a quality used bow versus entry level new.

Three years ago I picked up a parker from cabelas for like 320 ready to shoot, all I had to get was arrows and a release. It shoots great for me. Just like anything else you can spend a fortune or just get what you need, a mosberg atr will kill deer just as dead as a weatherby mark V. JMHO

It's not price of the bow, it's everything else. If you buy a package, it may not be equiped with what you settle onter. A bare bow is one price, buy your sight ($50), release ($60), rest-$80, stabilizer/sling- ($50), arrows ($100 doz), tips/broadheds ($40 for three), guard, case, etc another $100. Prices are estimated. I'm not trying to talk you out of it cause I'm a bowhunter fur-sure, just be prepared.

And subsequent fletch/feathers, glue, press, backstop/block, bowstands, spare release, and several more etc's. But, would I choose another way to hunt, no.

Here is a explainatory quote copied from a member on TexasBowhunter.com that may explain it, I cannot take credit for it, and no I have no clue who G.W. is.- "When I picked up a bow I simply left the rifle alone. It's a thrill I can't get rid of. I'm not knocking the rifle hunter, but I had a strong desire to see game up close that just couldn't be satisfied by hunting with a gun." G.W.
