Had interesting discussion with FIL the other day. Curious on the THF preference? ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2025/02/full-31882-445657-2025_02_18_7_49_19.png)

Blue and wood for an heirloom/safe queen. Stainless and G10 for a working gun. Agreed!
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect. Some people live an entire lifetime & wonder if they ever made a difference in the world, a veteran doesn't have that problem. Reagan

Either can look great, and either can look horrendous. Sometimes appearance just does not matter and sometimes it does.
I have a Smith Model 65 that has the look of a well-used police revolver. Since for my purposes it's not about appearance, it does not bother me in the least. It's a very good shooter. My 629 is gorgeous and a great shooter as well, but I don't want it to take on the worn appearance of the 65.
I have owned a number of blued Ruger Mark IIs, the latest purchased around 1989. Each time I look at it, it seems the same as the day I got it brand new...but when seen next to one that IS brand new, it's wear and blemishes are impossible to miss.
Colt is offering the Python with a blued finish again. I have not seen one in person yet, so I don't know how they compare to the old original blued Python but I am at a point that I may want to pick up another .357 revolver. If I ran across a nice Python for a reasonable price I might hit the "go" button...but I'd want a blued Python.
There's just something about blued steel and walnut (or any other nice hardwood).

Really only one answer to the question stainless or blued revolver. The answer is Yes. Absolutely. I asked my buddy at work and this was his response. Not sure why I didn't consider this sooner.

Blue and wood for an heirloom/safe queen. Stainless and G10 for a working gun. Agreed! Yup! Although I have a blued Ruger Single Six that I work the snot out of. 25 years old and it has held up great. I like them all.

I prefer stainless in my revolvers which are shot a lot and carried, but I do love the look of the classics in blued/walnut.

Case hardened and blued if I’m plinking or slinging solid lead. Cerakoted stainless if I’m looking to make a large diameter wound channel.

A well-worn EDC Blued weapon is a work of art, they take on a life of their own in color.

Blue if they're to be safe queens; stainless if they are to be working guns.

What did you stainless guys do before stainless came along? The glare off of stainless isn't kind to my eyes so I go with blued revolvers. If I'm using a gun I don't much worry about holster wear.

I carry an old Colt Officers Model 38 spl, sometimes I carry a S&W Mountain Gun in 41 magnum. I take of care of all my firearms, blued or SS, so it is not a big deal to me. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2025/02/full-30948-446012-colt2.jpg)
