Video is kind of long (+ 23 min) but you can fast forward.

I didn’t watch the video yet because I don’t have 23 minutes but if that “would buy” list is better than the “good” list I’d take what he says with a big grain of salt.

The list is a summary of the 23 min video...according to his opinion. The evaluation was based on quality and cost.

I think we will need to agree to disagree on this one

I saw the video, he explains why theyre in each category, and it's not really because they're bad, etc. Some of it is QC, some of it features, value, etc.

I have my LWRC and a DD, SIg, and PSA gun. To me, I agree with LWRC being the best out of those brands I have experience with, but I would put PSA's Sabre line in the "good/would buy" tier. DD quad rails (m4a1, mk18, mk12 in particular) in the would buy, and Sig in the pass tier. The fitment of the upper/lower is hot garbage and the proprietary muzzle threading is dumb. For the price, there's no way I'd take it over LMT, LWRC, G$, or KAC.

The rest of them I don't have enough seat time with to have a firm opinion on.

Didn't even list Wilson Combat and we build guns for SF and one federal agency. The key to a good AR is the BCG, barrel and trigger if these are top quality and the gun is properly assembled the gun will function and shoot well.

This list is good if its an attempt at satire. Bad if it's an attempt at rating build quality.

My FNH is noticeably nicer than my Ruger, which I had on about the same playing field with my Rock River.

FNH being one tier above PSA and Anderson should discredit the entire list. Even Ruger being one tier above those should discredit it, and FNH should be at least one tier ahead of Ruger. S&W above Colt, FNH, Ruger? LOL

I mean if it's clickbait or satire, you're doing great. I didn't click on the video because the pic of the list alone makes it not worth my time. So you didn't get me. But I hope you get a few unsuspecting idiots.

I'm sure if you sponsored his channel you would be at the top of the list.

We already know that all your guns are "God Tier"! cheers

To be fair, a lot of people think you all are strictly 1911s since you are so well known for those parts/pistols.

Taken with a huge grain of salt. His recommendations don’t come from experience with most of these rifles. Instead, it comes from internet chatter and mostly price point based off of manufacturers website listed features. Not sure how you claim to make a legitimate rankings video based on that criteria. To me, this seems like clickbait for views so that maybe some of these manufacturers send him free stuff so he can do “legitimate testing”. I respect his background but his list and opinions (for the most part) are pretty much worthless in terms of ranking AR manufacturers and their products.

I’m not sure I’d want to be included in that video. More or less, who can build the mil spec AR with the most features and sell it the absolute cheapest. Or, the flip side, which gun(s) does he own because they are good.

Some of those sell at an extremely wide price range, like SIG for instance, which makes it hard to place into one category. You can buy a Chevy Corvette Stingray, but you can also buy a Chevy Cobalt.

He said he’s seen two of them jam during classes he’s taught. I don’t disagree with what you’re saying, and that’s actually why he ranked some of them as high as he did. Because they offer varying price points of rifles. Most any mfg he considered expensive that doesn’t offer ambi controls, he more or less said you’re paying for the name on a bare bones milspec rifle. Extremely ambiguous way to classify anything. Doesn’t get into “can I throw it in a mud hole and it still function”. Nothing besides internet chatter, price point and opinion.

I think this is the bottom line. Matched and perfectly fitted receivers and such things are nice, and knowing that you've got good springs, detents, pins, and levers is a good thing too. Even so, all these small components of the modular system are like a fuse and you can never be sure something's not going to break the next time you pull the trigger. OTOH, knowing you've got a premium parts collection working in concert can be reassuring. But you still *never know.*

what is the "best" is always subjective. Everyone is different...if buying a complete rifle, Noveske, LMT, DD, BCM, Larue, KAC, WC & LWRC all should be in "Would Buy" or "God Tier". The rest...take it or leave it.

100% agree. This past weekend a friend that doesn’t own one told me he is getting a good deal on a Del-ton (something like $350). Asked what the purpose of this was, his reply was just to plink. While I wouldn’t necessarily buy one, for his purpose it will work just fine. Would I carry it into a war zone? No. I’d pick from those you just listed.

Eh, everyone has an opinion about what is best, I'll just stick with mine and let others have theirs.

Cannot say I 100% agree with "the list," but the problem with this discussion is that too many folks are emotionally invested in their gun and refuse to hear that the gun they purchased might not be the best thing since sliced bread. "Well, I got 500 rounds through this thing and it ain't let me down yet. It's a great gun!"

There are guns on that list I would trust with my life and others I would not.

There are some guns that will also shine on a flat range and others that you could stick in a tub of poo and still have them function. Lots of variables for sure and not all rifles will shine in one given scenario. I wouldn't pick my duty gun to go out and do PRS with, etc.

I also agree with The Dude's list of "would buys."

The only AR I have fired / built / used other than a PSA was a Colt M16 in the army and a S&W AR 15 (which I still have). Never had a problem with either. Many years ago and up until recently I have built many different caliber rifles from PSA. Fired thousands of rounds. All have been / are accurate and have a sum total of one issue and that appeared to be a bad piece of brass.

It's not what you say, or think, that counts. It is what you DO!

SF guys excel at killing bad guys, and teaching other people how to kill bad guys. And they are awesome at doing more with less. That does not necessarily translate into picking the best gear. But they can teach you how to take what you got and make it work👌
