Alright everyone I'm in the early stages of looking for a 4 Runner for my teenage daughters first car. Would like to find something less than 200,000 miles and well taken care of. I'm hopeful that I can find something here instead of Facebook marketplace or Craigslist. This is my first time to buy for either of my children so please take that into consideration. I want her to be safe and not in a piece of junk that could be breaking down all the time. My budget is 10,000 or less. Maybe a little more for the right deal. You can pm me or send me a text at 817-932-5055 Thanks Paul

This is my first time to buy for either of my children so please take that into consideration. Prayers for you and her Sir! I bought all four of our kids used cars/pickups when they started driving. I bought one daughter a white Delta 88. She was safe, but she is just now beginning to forgive me. She's 40.

I had a 4Runner and it was a great vehicle, but I'm convinced that a perfect first car for a kid is a 2013-2014 Mazda CX5 (the Grand Touring model is the best bang for the buck). You can find them all day long in your price range. They're: 1. Super reliable 2. Cheap & easy to maintain (the easiest oil/filter change you'll ever do, and the spark plugs take about 5 minutes to change...if you're slow) 3. Reasonable to insure 4. Lots of safety features (including blind spot monitors and a pretty good back up camera for those years) 5. Great visibility all the way around 6. Easy to drive (with not too many "distracting" options) 7. 30MPG all day, every day 8. They have enough power to get the job done, but nobody will mistake them for being fast. 9. Much roomier than you'd think. I'm 6'02" and I'm totally comfortable driving it. 10. Versatile with the fold-down rear seats, etc. My daughter drove the one I bought her for 4 years with no issues except two coil-over plugs that had to be replaced (about $50 each and two minutes to change them). She graduated college in December, so I bought her a new CX50, and we took her old CX5 back. We use it as a spare vehicle, but it seems like we end up driving it more than our new, expensive vehicles that are sitting in the garage. We drive it all over the place. It has 192,000 miles and purrs like a sewing machine. I'd have no worries driving it across the country and back. We plan to hand it down to our older son when he starts driving later this year. If he can go a year without any wrecks or tickets, I'll upgrade him to a pickup truck or something like that. We will then hand it down to our 14 year-old when he starts driving, with the same deal....drive it for a year with no wrecks or tickets, and you'll get rewarded with something "better." After that, I'll take it back and drive it until the wheels fall off it. It's the perfect zip around town, grocery getter, park it at the airport and not worry about it kind of vehicle. Just something to think about, from a fellow dad.

I’m fixing to sell our RDX and would be under 10k. 2015 with 90k or so miles. It will need a new timing belt in the next 15k miles, and the brakes squeal when they are cold. Has some body dents but nothing terrible. Other than that it’s been very reliable and drives solidly. I’m in Hurst. Can send pics if interested.
