Putting this one in the queue. I've known or met several of those folks over the years. Lots of stories that are never shared in the mainstream light.

I attended a lecture in the early part of my medical training where one of the combat medics and one of the surgeons that was deployed to the base spoke. It was unreal what they dealt with. Hearing the surgeon talk about the live RPG lodged in a soldiers hip coming into the OR was something. This was a military medical conference. It stuck with me. And then I watched the movie and it was something to see from the soldier side. The did depict the live RPG in the hip in the movie. Thought that was a cool touch that is probably not noticed by many.

Will have to check this series out.

Watching it now...pretty good series. I arrived to Mogadishu (contractor) on 12/3/93 and left two years later. The worst chit hole I have ever been to.

There are several instances that were in the movie that I thought were just hollywood filler but the series actually confirms a lot of the movie.

Agreed, very interesting hearing from the other side. I thought it was put together well, definitely worth the watch.

Watched the movie Black Hawk Down in its entirety at least twice, watched all Three episodes of Surviving Black Hawk down yesterday. up up

A lot of times when they do these military series the re-enactments are usually pretty lame, thought they did a great job with this one and as mentioned, hearing it from the actual people involved on both sides was
enlightening!

Don't know if any of y'all remember about 20 years ago six soldiers and a brigadier general from Fort Hood died when their Blackhawk helicopter hit the channel 25 guide wire at my buddy's ranch between Moody and Eddy.
