I get mine from a local person who has a lot of chickens so it’s not an issue for me but the news is running all these egg price stories. My local grocery store has had the same price for them for 4 years at least. Is this a regional issue for the price increase for eggs?

I'll let you know. I just asked my son to pick up a dozen eggs while he is out. We'll see how the stock and price is at Wally World. I'll report when he returns.

Just saw the national news (if you can call it news) and 8 bucks a dozen was the going price in the NE area of the country.

A dozen eggs this year might cost more than a dozen roses!

Dang that's good. My HEB and Walmart are at $5.50ish. That's up $1 from 2-3 weeks ago.

3.99 a dozen for large at Brookshire's. It's been that same price since Covid.

About 3 weeks ago I paid $4.53/doz for the cheap HEB eggs.
Last week I bought another dozen for $4.83.
I was in the store yesterday (Tuesday) and they were priced around $5.50/dozen.

I have two unwritten rules:
1.
2.

Have no clue I have my own chickens so we have plenty of eggs and eat anywhere from 2-8 a morning between my wife, son, and myself. 3 chickens is perfect for us, keeps us in eggs year round and at some points we have so many we give dozens to my mother in law.

So large eggs at Walmart in Gainesville are $6.82. They were out of extra large and jumbos were $7.29. Stock was very low. I'm not a huge consumer of eggs but when you need them, there aren't many substitutes.

I have had horses, goats, rabbits, dogs and cats growing up but never chickens. What the secret to successful chicken farming?

The most important thing I have learned is that everything wants to eat them.

I have several friends and a couple of relatives that raise them, so they keep me stocked up. An old friend has a bird auction down the road. laying hens are bringing good money. Next Auction is this Sunday.

How they have made it this far in history is amazing.

We have our own of about 8

My son is into sports and working out all the time so he typically eats 6-8 a day

So we usually have them but sometimes he gets me pretty low on egg count

Between my 6 hens we get between 4-6 per day. Nothing better then farm fresh brown eggs.
And yes they do taste better.

I am allergic to chicken eggs, a new allergy that just showed up. I was told that I might be able to eat duck eggs. I need to give them a try. Probably cost more than chicken eggs

Damn right they are. I’ll take duck eggs over chicken eggs, any day. And I love chicken eggs.
