recently starting hunting on a new high fence property that has some stag on it. trying to determine if any would be appropriate for a cull hunt or otherwise doing some springtime hunting. I was hoping someone here could view a few trail cam pics and help me learn about these animals. there seems to be around 5 hinds and 5 bucks roaming around. would like to know approx ages, if any bucks or does appear to be in an age or condition that would warrant a kill, thanks

It appears your stags are all young. They will also shed their current set of antlers in the next couple of weeks.

They almost look like they may be crossed with Sika.

I agree with buck wild, all appear young with a lot of room for growth

thanks to everyone for your feedback, we are learning as we go.

@don k I did not realize they could cross with Sika. Interesting perspective.

The stags sre 2-4 years old and the hinds are young too! Get ready for some real action in August thru October when the ROAR starts.... all day and all night. They are worse than elk! !

Not clear if you are the landowner or not, but I would make sure that if you are leasing/permission hunting your agreement makes note of any exotics and what you have permission to do regarding hunting/managing for them.

Regarding the stags, agree with others in that these are all in the 2-4 year old range and have a ways to go before being mature. We usually wait until they are in the 8-10 year old range before killing depending on the genetic potential
