I put gas in the wife’s new Yamaha Kodiak 4 wheeler a couple of days ago, and switched the key on to see the gas tank fill. Left the dang key on and depleted the battery totally. My fault, dang it. I’ve tried to charge the dead battery, but it isn’t happening.
Is there any way you know of to revive the dead battery? If not, I’ll get a new one.

Jump it and drive it around for 30 minutes? If it doesn't charge at that point, go see the man at the auto parts store.
Edit, depending on how new the machine is, take the battery to the dealer and ask about warranty.

Like said above jump it off with cables and let it run awhile. Some jump packs will start a dead battery. If you don’t have a jump pack buy one they are worth the price.

Noco Genius10 charger can revive a dead battery if it’s not fully shot.

I used the NOCO charger and kept getting error messages. Took the battery to NAPA for testing. Dead dead dead. Bought a new one. Dang it…

Next time, try an 'old-style' charger to begin with; most newer chargers have a microprocessor that checks the battery voltage before charging, and WON't start charging if connected backwards OR battery-voltage too low to be 'detected'.
Sometimes you can 'trick' them by trying to charge on 6v setting first (if it doesn't detect battery connected on 12v setting), then switching to 12v if the battery was able to begin to take a charge. This won't work if it's 'fully auto' with no switches.
Old-style chargers don't check anything and will throw a charging voltage out there and if the battery chemistry hasn't failed it will revive.

just curious, if it was new, shouldn't there be some type of warranty?

New battery chargers blow because they are designed by a bunch of green collage boys. A Schumacher battery charger will dang near make a dead body run around.

I started buying my batteries at Batteries Plus. My Mule battery was 56.00 out the door.
Local UTV shop wanted $150.

I ordered my CanAm battery off of Amazon. 'Said it was the model # replacement, but showed up with fewer CCAs than in the pic, smaller, and the polarity on opposite ends. I just got in too much of a hurry. I made it work, but was also able to charge the old one, so I have it too, as a back up. The CanAm battery keeper design is ridiculous to work with.

I tried a couple of the fancy new NOCO chargers and followed that up with an old school charger. Got nowhere. On the battery it said to charge with a 1.8 amp charger. Tried that. No good. I wish I had tried the 6 volt charger approach, but I doubt it would have worked. The new battery has higher CCA.
The thing that surprised me was that leaving the ignition switch on killed the battery.

My Polaris dealer wanted 240 bucks for a Ranger battery. I got 4 years out of the original so I wanted to stay with the factory model. Rocky Mountain ATV delivered one to me in 3 days for 140 bucks.

On the subject of charging and reviving dead dead batteries. I have used my little DC stick welder to boil batteries back to life. It can be dangerous, likely not worth the risk/reward. But it can be done, uncle Tony makes a good vid about it

I didn’t pursue a warranty replacement. The dead battery was all me.

New battery chargers blow because they are designed by a bunch of green collage boys. A Schumacher battery charger will dang near make a dead body run around. I have three batteries on Schumacher maintainers. Great little chargers/maintainers!

New chargers blow. I have 2 old school chargers. Leave a dead battery on 2 amps for a few days. Come back and it’s fully charged
Did everything just taste purple for a second

I didn’t pursue a warranty replacement. The dead battery was all me. On a 6 month old machine, you should be able to drain the original battery to nothing and it have the ability to be fully charged up.
