I can remember at least two seasons I was fishing on a DFW lake well after duck season and come across a decoy spread. My worst case assumption is either they had a medical emergency or home emergency. had to leave them, and hopefully be able to come back for them when they could. Just as likely though they found out public corps lake hunting is not the duck dynasty experience they were looking for, said F it, I'm done with duck hunting, and abandoned their gear.

As they hear all the ducks wizzing by bugging out to go feed 20 min before legal roflmao

Was hunting a spot many years ago, during the week. Expected I'd be the only one there but as I was getting geared up, a truck came rolling in. Anyone parking in that area is only heading to a particular spot so asked if him and his buddy wanted to join. They said that would be great. They unboxed a dozen decoys and pulled tags off of waders. I was rolling my eyes but they were nice enough guys. We get to the spot, he rigged up his decoys and tossed them in (he felt obliged to use his decoys). We shoot a few birds and they decide they are done. He retrieves about half of his decoys, looks at me and says those are too deep, I am not gonna mess with them. If you want to get them, you can have them. Grabbed a stick and I went home with 5-6 brand new ghg or avian x decoys. They are still in shop, mixed with all the rest.
