I’m in the Dallas area and looking to get into hog hunting. I’d rather not pay the $500+/day plus add-ons that some private hunts try to charge. While I’m looking for a land lease (for other hunting as well) I figured I’d try some of the public land. I’ve read White Oak Creek WMA and Old Sabine WMA are supposed to be good in the northeast Texas area. I’ve tried White Oak the past two weekends around the highlighted areas with zero luck. I’ve seen tracks, rooting areas, droppings, so I feel like I’m close but so far zero hogs. Does anyone have any suggestions at either White Oak or Sabine, or other public land in the area?

As far as the OSB when it rains parts of it is inaccessible. That being said there are lots of hogs there, but you have to be where their at. I hunted it about 12 years ago on a standby draw hunt. The staff were more than helpful and told us that if we shot a hog and did not want to drag it out just tell them and they would take care of it later. If you call them they would probably tell you were to look and steer you the right direction. Good luck. An ATV/UTV would be helpful also.
