I'm majorly bummed. Been hunting the same 100 acres off Highway 16 in Young County for 18 years. My Landowner can't resist the land values anymore and is nearing retirement so cashing in his $85k investment for half a million frown Would love to find another 100 acre lease for my son and I, though I know I have a snowballs chance in hell of finding one. Like it out West in Jack/Young County but open to other locations. 18 years in one place shows I'm a good steward and dependable. Hell, I'd have stayed there until I was too damn old to hunt if I could have. 100 acre leases with 130-140 class bucks don't grow on trees frown

Have to clean all my crap off the place so will be listing it this weekend...fick, fick, fick, fick, fick... frown

Earl

That does suck but likely the future wave of land selling and swapping given the very high price of land per acre, Cross Timbers region being one of the leaders in the state for it. I recall you listing some pics of nice bucks over the last few seasons. I do agree that your task of finding a replacement will be tough to impossible; guess you could drop a $.5M and buy the 100 acres, right. Best of luck in your hunt.....

Yeah tell me about it. He offered it to me but with my own retirement being in site and probably moving back down to the coast where I grew up and miss my fishing, it wasn't in the cards. Worst case I'll just have to book a few weekend hunts I guess, but I'm hoping to find another place.

Man, I feel for you. I fear I’m in the same predicament after being here for 10 years. Just before the LO’s death, we were downsized from 480 ac to about 160 ac now over 2 separate tracts. I’m worried the LO’s wife will sell the remaining property and move back to the metromess to live with her daughter. Wife and I have a great setup for us right now.
Best of luck to you.

You too Jimbo, hope you get to keep it awhile longer man. I had hurt my back after Thanksgiving so didn't even get a deer this year. I went out there today to get feeders and take pics of the blind I'm going to list tonite - saw the for sale signs. I wonder how long he's had them up. I've never ever shot more than 2 deer in a year (and that was rare, usually one for me and one for my oldest son) but would have filled all my tags if I knew this past season was my last.
