At least half of the cattle in the U.S. are on our deer lease. I got a pretty good idea where the rest of them are. We had a really nice reprieve when we were between ranchers. Not one head on 16k acres for about 8 months. That and record rain and our Panhandle place looked something like a Texas version of a lush forest. Amazing how quick that country bounced back. Owners brought their own, about 75% of what the previous rancher ran. They are eating machines.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Texas numbers are up 2%, getting us back to where we were 2 years ago, but 2 years ago we were down 2% so the overall herd is still smaller than it was 5 years ago.
