The tariff thread had me thinking. How much effort do you put into buying USA made products? Or how much effort do you put into avoiding goods from certain countries like China?
Some things are unavoidable or almost so such as an iPhone, especially when it’s a company provided one. What about other goods though? Who wears all American produced clothing? What about step further and who wears clothes made in the USA from USA produced products such as American grown cotton that never leaves the country?

Given the info and the choice I'll buy USA. I'll take made-in-china by a US mfg before I'll buy made-in-china by a chinese company. I won't by anything TEMU.

This is going to take an effort from us all
I know this forum is a small community but buy American if at all possible
Shop local when you can
I hate buying foreign crap
Pay $1 more if needed if it says USA
But do your part AND spread the word

Same here but I’m curious how much effort people put into finding that choice. I’ll admit I don’t on most things. I have in the past at times and it takes alot more effort, more time, and more research to stay American made on some things. A lot of people talk the buy American only game but don’t do much to support that statement. The made in China by US owned companies is an interesting one though. I’m a bit of a knife nerd and it’s super common in the knife world for designers here in the states to pay a Chinese company to make knives for them or their company. There are plenty of companies here that would do the same but of course it’s more expensive. To me that’s almost worse for that person to do that because while they are American, they are actively supporting Chinese industry and competing with those companies here simply because they are cheap and value their pocketbook over supporting American manufacturing.

I've bought a few things from Origin - all American made clothing. They ain't cheap.
I've put back on the shelf a ton of items at Home Depot that are Chinese made. It's hard to find anything that isn't in that store. I've bought some Klein tools. They ain't cheap either. And they're not all American made, you have to read the description on-line.

If I can I will buy American. Some things though are better from foreign countries such as thermal optics.

Pretty sure i am the only Canuck that posts on this forum with any regularity. As this is a hunting forum i mostly try to stick to that (or other outdoor pursuits like fishing) and leave politics and ideology behind and just enjoy people that chase similar interests to me. That being said i am a right wing redneck with tendencies that border on Anarchy. Where products are concerned i buy the best quality that i can afford. If two items are the same quality at the same price then country of origin will come into play. Usually the quality criteria eliminates most Chinese stuff and means i buy from Canada, USA or Western Europe made. But at the end of the day i will buy from whoever does it best at my pricepoint - sometimes that is USA sometimes not.
And regardless of what Trump says or does or my country says or does i am your friend and ally.

That is a matter of perspective and location. In urban areas we are regulated and bylaw'd to death same as any city in North America. Federally our gun laws suck. In northern areas though we are freer in most day to day things than anywhere in the world (granted this is a very small percentage of the population). Where my lake house is it is an unorganized township. This means there is no municipal government there are no bylaws at all and further we are not subject to permits of any kind. You want to build a house or anything else for that matter just go ahead and do it. No permits required, no building code, no inspections - just get it done.

I try to spend my fun money on American made. I used to be a bit of an airgun enthusiast until I realized most are Chinese, and if not it’s mostly out of my price range. I paired that down to my R9/HW95 because it’s made in the free world, and is breakbarrel perfection. That and my good old Benjamin pumper, made in USA 👌
So if it’s a want and not a need, if it is not at least made in the free world it’s a hard pass for the most part.
Except fishing equipment. Rods are either made in China or cost $200+. It is what it is.
As far as needs go, I hunt for stuff not made in China. Made in USA is hard to come by.

Rare times that I shop and have a choice I look for made in America and if it is anywhere close in price I will always buy it. The wife does basically all of the shopping for us including my clothes, basically all I buy is hunting related items, certain men required necessities like steaks, beans, booze and items for home repairs or upgrades and garden stuff from the hardware stores.. One hunting product that I bought was a Treeline 350 lb. feeder $399 made in China based on good reviews from a rancher that I trust his opinion. The other two I was considering at the time were a All Season $699 and a Lamco $799, because of the huge price difference and recommendation I bought the made in China one, unfortunately it has been a real pain in the backside

I have misplaced my fencing pliers. I went to a couple of farm and ranch stores and handled several different brands of US made ones. The fit and finish were less than impressive. Sadly I chose the Ace Hardware brand because they were the best quality and were machined with the tightest tolerances. They happened to be the least expensive and had a big fat made in china etched into them.

I buy America first too when possible, but let's face it.....it is a global economy and getting moreso every day. Everyone's home is chock full of Chinese goods, guaranteed.

If you think Chinese products are crap here, you should see what the rest of the world gets. At this point, it is more about supporting American industries. It’s hard to come by though. A regular day at the grocery store, there pretty much isn’t any American stuff except maybe food.
