A while back I asked about Starlink, which we had installed. We cancelled with Brightspeed (used to be Centurylink) on internet and sent back the modem. Everything came through a DSL phone line, and we decided to keep the phone service with Brightspeed. They were Ok with that and gave us a high price. We protested and they dropped to a reasonable monthly cost. We figured that was done and dusted, but immediately voicemail and caller ID disappeared. After maybe 4 or 5 phone calls and long waits on terminal hold, they said they’d send out a technician, but they didn’t. They set a new service visit date, but said it was to help us set up our internet. Told em we dropped their internet, so needed no help. This is getting insane, and the wife and I are PO’d big time. Their customer dis-service is in India.

If you are getting any service from Brightspeed, you may find you are stuck to the tarbaby like we are.

It might be better to cancel everything with those idiots and after a week or so, tell them we want phone service. But the thought that it can’t get worse than this might not be reality. It can always get worse.

They're horrible. Always have been no matter what their name is this week.

And caller ID and voicemail should not require a visit from their tech. Those are things they can do from their central office.

Why do you need a landline, don't you each have a cellphone?

I fought them at the ranch. Ranch was sold and so went Bright Speed. Who named them Bright Speed should be FIRED.

I had a stack of tickets from Texas PUC from dealing with them.

"Why do you need a landline, don't you each have a cellphone?" Because cell phone service in Leon County in some areas is none existent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are more cows in Leon County than folks.

The wife wants a landline. And cell service is rather weak. As for Brightspeed, I think it’s my turn to call them next. Yay me…

Brightspeed is like one of those things in life that, if it’s working, leave it be. You do NOT want to have to interact with them, which has all the possible success of talking to your cat.

Brightslow is the only game in my neighborhood. We did get info from one of their techs that our neighborhood is next to
receive fiber optic. Fingers crossed.
I got T Mobil as a back up , price is right but they cannot give me the speed they claim. It is fast in the morning but
slows to a crawl at night.

I think I will cancel T mobil today. smile

I checked the Starlink speed at the house yesterday. It was 395 MBS. Of course it usually isn’t that high. And to think 10 mbs was my Brightspeed max. But… they were my only option for years.
