I’ve watched several episodes of that. Even saw someone shooting that’s I’ve shot with in matches. It’s my understanding there is a pile of applications at this point. Wind pending I think I could get a silver. Or not.

I can't hang with JG, Judd, TAB and many others on here. They can really read the wind and I shoot better when they call the wind for me.

This is what I've found. Elevation is easy and straightforward. Wind, not so much.

Teaching a guy to shoot all day today. Been reading wind all day, and it's been sporty!

He left about 30 minutes ago. This was his first day shooting anything more than 200 yards, and even he said he realizes the wind reading is the real trick here.

As far as a 1 MOA cold bore shot at 1000 yards, that is very easy to miss by anyone, including myself. You check every imaginable box for your rifle, hand loads, and great scope. I would miss due to a wrong wind call. But don't let me have the opportunity for a follow-up shot. It will very most likely be a hit.

I have been surprised that some of the long range guys from this forum haven't been on there. I figure some of them could do quite well. Maybe they just didn't know about it and now that they do they'll try to get involved. I watch the challenges basically every month, they're always pretty interesting. I think the best one so far was the guy with the nagant

1000 yards is a pretty good poke and I absolutely agree 1 cold bore likely a miss, but a follow up shot it’s gonna be on like donkey Kong.. but at a mile only 2 of them guys were shooting a caliber that has some credibility at 1 miles and that’s the 300 Norma mag. The 300prc/win mah guys have a small chance if they are shooting a really well sorted out load with the absolute best bullet but at a mile even a win mag is running out of speed. Wind effects are big beyond 1200 yards.

I don’t know about that man I’m just a hack… but like to try for sure I have not shot past 1200. Most of my shooting been under 600 with the occasional trips to places that have 800 or 1k..

I have a .300 Norma Mag loaded with 250 gr A-Tip. 30" barrel makes 2980 fps MV.

2180 yards are my farthest current hits with it.

I don't shoot my range at home with it. It's a waste of loading components and barrel life. My 800 yard range at home is "not enough range" for that rifle.

My record distance cold bore hit was with that rifle, 1440 yards. It was not a 1 MOA target, but my hit would have fit inside 1 MOA. I am certainly not claiming I can do that at any time.

I’m game. 1000 yards the best 6 from here. I’ll likely come in 13th but I’ll play.

The challenge is not a cold bore shot, for any of y'all who haven't watched the videos. You get 10 shots to make a hit on the one MOA Target, and any leftover shots you can try to hit a half MOA Target. The fewer shots used the higher points you get. You win a medal it's just for fun

I think there's a new deal for the guy who does the best that day gets to shoot a 10 shot group and see how well it is for maybe another metal or something

I watch it...it's mildly entertaining. If I was to be interested in one, it would the the LA boys shooting clays start at 100 and you have like 3.5 minutes or something like that, hit and move on...looks like fun and I've not seen anyone get much over 6-700y.

But I don't have a rifle currently that could handle 10 consecutive shots without getting too hot (less 1 benchrest rig that I have left and it's not what either of those competitions are about).

Tempting if I could find the time.

I would come watch the THF shoot off. I would even pay.
