Just curious what the fines were as the total for fines and restitution was $7000.00 total.

$7000 isn't nearly enough...and no mention of losing hunting privileges for upcoming years...IN ALL STATES?...coverage says they admitted they knew...so to those that asked "What is going on?"...this has always been a part of it...the mentality that..."We don't get to hunt every day of the season so when we find ducks we should be able to kill a season's worth!"...They are giving HUNTERS a bad name...these are slobs and game hogs...also it was not mentioned in the coverage but I will bet they also don't pickup their trash or shells when they hunt.

Looked like a jam up shoot. I wonder if the game wardens checked for bait?

Pretty crazy what GW's have to go through and lack of resources that they have all to give a minor fine. They should have had larger fines, forfeited gear, and lost hunting privileges for next season. Need to make this stuff more of a deterrent unfortunately.

Texas is 172,830,400 acres and we have 550 +/- GW's - 315K acres per warden, which doesn't include the coast.

Does the land owner have any repercussions from and incident like this?

They got of very light on fines not to mention if hunting privileges were not revoked for at least a year and their guns and gear were not confisicated or at least held until fine/court finalized.

I’m just glad to hear that enough ducks were congregated on one spot to do that. Congratulations!

I've got a neighbor that home is Louisiana. I don't think he'd poach, but one of his sons looks like he wouldn't think twice about it. Wounding deer is their specialty.

Grey ducks, teal, and at least 1 drake Pintail...and every hen they killed illegally...is one that can't try to migrate back North and try to raise a brood/broods...back when "SAVE A HEN" was a real thing...i had a mallard hole and gave Susies a pass...and I added $10 to my DU/Delta Waterfowl giving for every hen, of any species I killed, whether because of early season appearances, errant shots, or bad shooting light.

Coon asses may be the reason for game limits as a whole.

This is absolutely stupid. I am ashamed that these couyons claim to be from Louisiana. I mean if they were for real then they wouldn’t have gotten caught … bang stir argue confused2

Honestly, in 2025 there is no reason to do what they did. Blatant disregard for the law and no respect for the resource. They need to be under the jail.

Just my 2 cents
Big Hutch

I'm one of those Cajuns from Louisiana, and not very happy that those idiots share the same home state but, I have known/know some Texas Redneck/Cowboys who have no regard to game laws whatsoever. Some of the allstars were Leo's and one preacher. Real fine outdoorsmen.

I remember way way back in the original desert storm ... Sam from Sales said the best way to handle it was send a boatload of Cajuns to Iraq, tell them Iraqis are good to eat, the limit is 2, and the season ended yesterday.

Not sure why people are so desperate to shoot ducks beyond their limit.

That's not how I think it happens. I think shooting is fun, and people just don't want to stop (especially if they've had a bunch of dry outings in a row). Not saying it's the right thing to do - it isn't - but I completely understand why they do it. Shooting stuff is fun.

I bet there are some that would gladly pay 7 grand for a hunt like that.

I am surprised they didn't bring in the federal game warden into the mix. That would probably have raised the fines and might have got a long suspension of hunting license.
