First pics I have of this girl. Not sure what happened to her, but it looks like there's still some necrosis hanging from her leg. I'm thinking at this point, she'll probably make it and be our local 3 legged nanny.

It's a will to live.

Maybe a poor rifle shot, hit by a car or hung up in the fence. confused2

My guess is fence. Looks like the skin and muscle is stripped from the bone.

They have a tough life. I had a young 10 point with a broke front leg 2 years ago. Watched him almost every sit thinking how he would be great the next season and then he showed up in early February with a broken front leg. Never saw him the following season. People underestimate the number of deer that get hung up in fences and become coyote food also. Everyone I`ve come across dead or helped out was a small buck that got their legs twisted in the top 2 barbed wires.

Last year, I found a young buck that had tripped the gate in our pig trap and then got hung on the top of the fence trying to jump out. I got him loose, but he just drug his hindquarters off into the brush about 20 yards away. I went back a few hours later to check on him, and didn't see any drag marks from where he had been, so I am hoping that he laid there until he got feeling back. But, that was hopeful thinking I am afraid.

After 3 dead deer, I’ve changed to a larger pig trap with an open top. Camera says they get in but jump out. So far, only one pig has made it over the top.

We have a larger pig trap with an open top. Deer jump out of it all the time. This one just had bad aim.
