Just got one and love it so far. Why would a 10/22 be louder shooting the same ammo then a Keltec P17? I thought it was very weird that the rifle is louder than the pistol. [Linked Image]

Different ammo?

My 16” KIDD and my 5” GSG 1911 sound about the same. Both extremely quiet. With the CCI Quiet they’re both Hollywood quiet but the pistol doesn’t fully cycle but the 10/22 does.

That is weird.

Only thing I can think of is the ammo is right on the line of being super sonic. The pistol is still sub sonic but the rifle barely gets enough velocity to send it super sonic.

Make sure your ammo is standard velocity

22ammo doesn’t reach full supersonic in pistols. My 4.5 inch pistol shooting is Hollywood quiet shooting hyper velocity ammo while my 10/22 is noticeably louder with just regular ammo

Yep. If it’s supers that is common. It never broke the sound barrier in the handgun.

As the others said, just the barrel length giving it enough speed to crack the sound barrier.

Anyone have a 10/22 charger? How does that sound?

Yup.
Barrel length = velocity.

That is determined by your ammo. I shoot CCI SV out of everything and it's all tuned to function with it. My charger is pretty quiet.

Like others have stated the ammo is going supersonic in the rifle but staying sub sonic with the pistol, cci quiet semi auto will keep it subs and still cycle.
Also I highly recommend slip2000 carbon killer for when you need it, pop the monocore out and soak it for a while and all the carbon will wipe right off! I clean mine every 500 ish rounds and it made it a lot easier!
Also don’t buy the orings from silencerco you can get them on amazon a lot cheaper directly from the manufacture if I remember right viton makes them.
