You're in the market for a new, 2025 1/2 Ton, 4x4 pickup for mostly in city rolling around but also your weekend recreations to/from deer hunting lease or ranch. Your needs are basic in terms of hauling and or towing, nothing hardcore by any means, bags of corn, minor equipment, possibly towing an ATV. With those items in mind, what brand/model, trimine pickup do you get, factoring utility and overall value? Let's hear THF on this one....

Ford Raptor

Towing is crap but will work for what you’re needing
Off-road is amazing if you ever need/want it
Running around town with the eco boost is good
Raptors probably have one of the best resale values compared to the TRX which have significantly lower numbers produced.

Lots of sales/rebates on F-150’s. I’ve always bought XLT trim and the current is an FX4.

Man Fords gotten stupid on price points, I do like the interior of the RHO alittle better and steel body. I would drive either though if I was looking for a fun truck. Goldy has raptor r and I’d pick that over all of them but again price point is no where close to practical. Thats a lot of good hunts out west.

You can probably get a nicely equipped Ford Superduty for the the price of a 1/2 ton Raptor.

Yelp but going to cost 12-15k to get it to ride like a raptor

I don't think much has changed since you asked the same thing about 3 weeks ago.

More basic question on this one around utilization and practicality. Trying to nail this purchase...

My only personal criteria 6.5 bed, 4x4 and electric locking rear end at min.

I don’t think you can go wrong with Ford, Ram, GM or Toya

That makes sense and yes I agree the prices are absolutely stupid these days. I waited for the right deal on both of mine and it paid off.

I really wish I could find a R to buy for a good price but they’re stupid expensive.

I checked all your boxes with a 4X4 Tacoma for many years. They are rated to carry more than a half ton of weight too.

Toyota Tacoma…it’s very good for navigating the urban jungle and will perform in the woods!

That’s what I have but no leather interior. It’s the TSS I think. I love it.

If those were my needs I would buy a F150 FX4 in a lariat trim ( I like leather ) with the 5.0 motor or a GMC SLT with the 5.3 or 6.2. Both are good engines.

The stated needs are pretty basic so you can easily meet them with just about any half ton.

If I was buying, some must haves for me are leather and 4x4 and a V-8 engine

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I think any of them would do what you need. Pure simplicity and min cost a n/a gas v-6 probably wins. My pick would be a ram with the hurricane or a cord with one of the ecoboosts. I won’t own a gas Chevy till they quit the cylinder cut out bs.
