Heading out to the woods today for a get together and was going to bring my sticks and probably play the course Sunday.

Explanation
The course's owners, Danielle and Daniel Cocanougher, considered donating the course to Weatherford College.
The college board voted to begin the process of accepting the donation.
However, the donation fell through, and the course remains closed.

Stub, coworker that lives out there said it closed last year, superintendent that was trusted, possibly newer lost the greens and basically didn't care for it and possibly other bad stuff too. He says 3-5 years prior was still a viable, humming operation so a real shame. All I know and heard on it.

Golf courses often are and would think a rural one with only 1500 town residents would be a high qualifier. At $65-85 green and cart fee depending on weekday or weekend, you better have good course conditions and food to draw folks in otherwise recipe for a sinking ship.

Their close proximity to the fast growing DFW area and location in the hill country of N TX and being right off the lake, seems like that would be a very desirable golf course for some golf corp. or developer with deep pockets. If they could also buy the the Lodge condos, Shell gas station, car wash and the marina, doze it all down and build one hell of a resort there

When James Wood owned it, the golf course was in excellent shape. Really enjoyed playing there.

You betcha it is, I was there at 7:03 this morning and got me a JSEC Biscuit for breakfast this am.

We were scheduled to have the 1st round of our district golf tournament out there I think it was last year, and they had to cancel it due to them selling it is what they told us…no idea! Used to be a pretty good course!

There has to be bad politics out there or something. We live between there and Jacksboro. Bought and started building a place in 2022. Runaway bay local mgmt will not allow any new businesses in and the ones that are their can not expand or grow. Jacksboro has ts own red tape politics problems. But we try to spend our money as much as possible in town, plus our 6k a year in property taxes. Only way to change for the better is to raise up property values to push out the meth labs.
