PFAS Chemicals are killing cows in Johnson county right now. Crap waste from FW. Pending litigation about it.

PFAS Chemicals used by AF would be in foam fire equipment. Same is happening all over the country. FDs now can't wash the stuff into the storm sewers. Carswell cleanup was leftover machine/fuel oils.

Texas farmers say sewage-based fertilizer tainted with “forever chemicals” poisoned their land and killed their livestock After the county received test results, the two families finally got their answer: The animals had been killed by something in the fertilizer. The fertilizer had been made with biosolids, part of an effort to find a climate-friendly method to recycle municipal sewage. But the fertilizer also contained synthetic and highly hazardous chemicals known as PFAS, which are found in hundreds of household products and have had devastating effects on farms and ranches that inadvertently spread them on their land. An untold number of farms and ranches across Texas and the rest of the nation may have also used fertilizer made from sewage tainted with these “forever chemicals” — which don’t break down in the environment — without knowing it. Due to their widespread use in consumer products, forever chemicals have been discharged into waterways by chemical manufacturers, trucked to landfills with household trash or flushed into city sewers via toilets, sinks, showers and washing machines. Then they end up in local wastewater treatment plants where the solids are separated from sewage. Fertilizer companies who are often paid to haul these biosolids away process them into fertilizer that’s sold to farmers and ranchers as a cheaper alternative to chemical fertilizers. A number of Texas wastewater plants have contracts with fertilizer companies to take their biosolids, including Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas and Arlington. Nationally, more than half of sewage sludge was treated and spread on land, according to one study; 19 billion pounds of it was spread on American farms between 2016 and 2021, the nonprofit Environmental Working Group found in 2022. https://www.texastribune.org/2024/12/02/texas-farmers-pfas-forever-chemicals-biosolids-fertilizer/

There are PFAS everywhere, there isn’t a strong link to cancer etc to them, just that they take a long time to break down. Biggest health issue isn’t in the PFAS itself but the manufacturing of them.
With that said yes I’ll be at Whitesands i think 20–23 for oryx

Considering the conditions that much of our meat in the store were raised in, I am not gonna let pollution scare me away from game meat.

No offense but JP’s aren’t exactly scientists or biologists……. They are elected traffic ticket judges This has consumer insurance policy money payout written all over it.

They have an extremely long half life, any thing with a long half life eco people flip out, unless is oozing from a solar panel

I read it the first time you posted it, the article is inclusive. The waste fertilizer could have had a number of different things in it, it just happens to have PFAS in it also, along with who knows what other chemicals got flushed, down drains. At this point you can blame PFAS for everything, but until there are studies showing it causing xyz, from consumption or absorption, it tossing crap on the wall and seeing if it sticks.. No pun intended. I have several friends that took the human fertilizer gamble, none of had issues and PFAS has been used popularly for Decades. With that said No cheap fertilizer that you have to disclose that you used it, up to 15 years after, if you sell is worth it.

Again you are going to find the chemicals everywhere due to their extreme long half life, and fact they have been in everything for almost 100 years. The difference between the last 100 years and now is we just started testing for them, after environmental group went to shut down a chemical company. Every water bottle, cooking utensils, clothing, the list is 1000 miles long of the products.

Johnson County ranchers are suing the EPA over it so I tend to side with the ranchers at the moment just going by my experience with the EPA. That and Fort Worth sewage being spread out to rural areas just sounds like a bad idea from the get go.

We have a similar issue in Clinton, MO. That’s maybe 30-40 miles from me. A big energy company planned to put in a solar farm, turns out the soil was too contaminated. Never said anything else about it until somebody started asking questions, what kind of pollution stop solar panels?
Turns out it’s radioactive. Traced it all back to Lake Montrose, where you can’t eat the fish. Apparently nobody has been paying attention to what all run off and waste is discharged into that lake since it’s almost always been polluted by industrial wastes and runoff from the lagoons that all the small towns use nearby. But the towns draw water off that lake to spray the roads and everything else, no telling why. That water has been sprayed all over the roads for a long damn ways and now it runs off into Lake Truman and Lake of the Ozarks 🤷♂️. We still don’t know how bad it is in Truman or LOZ, but there has been talk of killing all the livestock and stopping them from harvesting or selling the grain and beans around the area. A lot of it is already long gone, shipped out and probably eaten by now. For no telling how many years. Craziness.
