I have type 2. A shot 3 times a day before eating and one at bedtime. I have a Libre 3 and love it. It lets me see how different foods affect my blood sugar. It is connected to my phone and to the Pharmacist I see at the VA.

Type 1 here. Pump and CGM is great way to go if your insurance covers it but can have very good control with multiple shots a day

My wife has been Type 1 for 29 years and she is on the pump to. Being on the pump eliminates a lot of complications of highs and lows and can be lifesaving. If insurance covers, the pump is a must.

Same here....have had T1D since 1994. My favorite combo right now is the Tandem pump with dexcom CGM. That aside, a good doctor who holds you accountable is paramount.

The pump will definitly be in his future. going right in to 4 shots a day can't be fun.

The data collected while he os on the shots will help a lot getting the pump close tp correct then they will be tweeking the settings over time. I hear from my dpc office just about every week.

It is so much easier to manage than it was for a long time and not kust easier but much better control.

Those of you with the pump, is it waterproof? Any activity restrictions?

They're supposed to be waterproof but my wife always takes it off when swimming and shower. There's a Medtronic forum on Facebook that has a lot of good information from people that are actual users.

No restrictions. I take it off when showering and in the pool. They use the term "water resistant"....so it isn't necessarily waterproof. I have jumped in the pool with mine on before without issue.

Appreciate the replies guys. My wife’s endocrinologist wants her to consider getting one.

so far things seem to be going well. he's getting used to the routine and we're getting used to giving shots. one thing I didn't know is that insulin has a distinctive smell. He needs to put on some fat so we can start injecting in other spots and not just in his stomach.

For most people insulin will cause weight gain.
