seems a bit odd-all season they would hit the perimiter of the feeder pens picking up the bits of corn they could reach-for the last 7 days though no pics and while hunting none seen at the feeders-yet they are still in the area-could hear them and even got out of the stand and stalked to a group sunday am...but they are not hitting the corn-my best guess is they found a better food source I guess???

I have that happen every so often, usually when I go out there to shoot them. Have them down to a pattern and then everything changes. My issue ended up being the neighbors putting up a new feeder close to the property line.

That is the thing about myopic game camera observations at feeders and a lot of hunters seem to think that whatever they see on the game camera is representative of more than what it is. You are on the right track. Hogs make circuits that may or may not be predictable for any period of time, but the move from resource to resource and that is influenced by factors such as access, danger, etc. . There are countless influences outside of the game camera feeder area that will influence whether or not the hogs make it into frame. They could have found a better source, as you suggest. They could have lost a primary source near you and are now searching for another, yours not being why they were in your area. They could have suffered hunting pressure on a property that is on the way to your place and so have found a safer place to travel and it isn't in your direction. They could have been trapped out on another property. And while I know of no documented sources of this for hogs, they could have been redirected as a a result of road traffic (documented for deer movements) where an increase in road traffic result in less crossings. Maybe somebody just installed a high fence blocking that particular group's route. GusWayne said it more simply, LOL. It happens.

I had about the same thing happen to me towards the end of deer season, plus in one afternoon hunt, every time the feeder would go off, the pigs in the distance would start squealing and acting like they were fighting. They did this 3 times that my feeder went off and another couple of times when I activated a little device that sounds like a feeder. Never saw any pigs that day, but heard plenty of them. Never in one of my numerous hunts did I see pigs in person. Saw pigs on camera and heard them a couple of times, but never in person.
