Have several of those myself, took a while and several bird nests before I mastered them years ago. Great reels!! Sorry, but can’t help on a place to refurbish them.

I have no idea where to send them, but thanks for reminding me that I need to go clean mine again...I have five that I purchased when I was young, and they have lasted my lifetime...

Southwest parts is the flagship of reel repair shops. Parts availability may be an issue but if any place in the US has parts it will be south west. Most of not all others order parts from south west.

Not sure if there is any interest, I know you are a do it yourself er on much. They are very simple and parts are readily available it’s something you could easily do yourself if you wanted to. I have since I was a small kid.

Southwest in Dallas like others have said is the place to go if you dont want to do it yourself. If all you need is handles then Bass Pro sells them and some Academys do as well. That generation of Abu handles were prone to getting soft and gummy and then they would break apart. I have replaced many of them over the years and its a very simple repair if that is all you are looking to do to them.

This is the place I’ve always seen recommended for reel service.

I'm in the situation now that I am always working on rifles and ammo for customers. I don't have time for something like this. I'd like to, I just can't take me away from everything that is already on my plate.

It finally makes sense why I've seen capable men hiring someone else to do things. They do what they do, and hire someone else for a build/repair on anything. The guy in need doesn't have the time for the learning curve of something new.

Southwest usually has a few refurbished ones for sale, you may be able to trade in on one of those, no 2nd trip needed!

I'm not driving there. Back to the time thing.

I will box it all up, have it picked up at my shop, and shipped to them. Hopefully they are willing to ship them back.

Best just to buy new, they are so much better now of days and better choices and quality.

Those are great reels. Very simple and built to last. Well worth the effort to refurbish. Whether you do the work or pay someone else, it takes 30 minutes or less to go through one if you have the parts on hand. The one upgrade I would specify if you hire someone to do the work is to replace the 2 pin centrifugal brake block with a 6 pin like the newer ones have. It is a drop in part with no modification required. Available on eBay for $6.50.
