Reading about the Gasparilla Pirate parade made me look at the map of that area. It sounded familiar. The wife and I went down there from Venice, where my in-laws lived in the 70’s. Man, time flies. I fished in Boca Grande Pass in the 80’s. And, more important, we occasionally ate at the Cabbage Key Restaurant, on Cabbage Key. Any of you folks ever go to the restaurant? The map suggests that it’s still there. If it’s still a good place to eat, I’d sure like to go there again. Have to hire a boat, I guess.

I lived on Captiva for a few years, and always took visitors to Cabbage Key….is a fun boat trip. You just have to follow the markers. Lot of shallow water. Have not been in a couple of years, a timeshare I have has been closed since Ian hit.

Lot’s of barrier islands to check out by boat. North Captiva, Cayo Costa, Useppa, Gasparilla, Pine Island.
