Day 2 of our BBQ Tour:

Barbecue Tour day # 2
First stop - Louie Muller BBQ - Taylor, TX.
Doors opened at 11AM and we were greeted with an incredible smoked meet smell.
Pulled Pork - really good
Pork Ribs - very good
Brisket - good, solid choice
Burnt End - good but they were my least favorite of the 4 meats.
BBQ Sauce - they have 2 types, the first is a thin, vinegar based sauce that they place on your tray. I’m not a big fan of vinegar based sauces. They have a more traditional sauce at the table that was very good..

Barbecue Tour stop # 2.
Blacks Barbecue - Lockhart, TX
This is stop # 2 for today. We “sampled” a few things.
BBQ Chicken - My wife had the chicken, this was the first place we’ve been to that had chicken. Really moist and flavorful.
Brisket - Probably the best I’ve had so far.
Pork Ribs - I wish I had ordered full rack. These rips are truly “smoked” ribs. The other places had a heavy “bark” on their ribs. Blacks didn’t have the heavy pepper bark. They were outstanding!
Best flavor BBQ sauce so far.
Blacks Barbecue is my favorite so far.
I broke down and had peach cobbler.

Barbecue Tour stop #3. Last stop for today.
Any place that is named Legit-[censored] Meats BBQ has my attention!
Brisket - moist, flavorful and an amazing bark on it! Thumbs up.
Pulled Pork - Juicy and very tasty!
Jalapeño, cheese sausage - lots of cheese, really mild jalapeño flavor.
Legit-[censored] Meats is actually a food truck. This is the first BBQ food truck I’ve been to. Overall it is pretty tasty, good BBQ.
My wife and I stepped next door to Riley’s Tavern to have a drink and eat our BBQ. Fun fact about Riley’s Tavern, it’s a Historical Landmark. Reason being that this place has the very first Liquor license issued at the end of Prohibition. Liquor license #001.
The Prairie Rattlers are tonight’s entertainment.

Tomorrow is a new day.

Looks great food Next time we are in that area, Blacks is a definite go to.

With all of the BBQ y'all are eating, any repercussions from your back side yet?

The original Blacks location in Lockhart has been a favorite of mine since the early 80’s. After leaving Riley’s you could have headed north on Hunter road and tried San Marcos BBQ. It fair, some days better than others. It’s a hop, skip and jump from my house. I’ll swing by for a 1/4 lb of moist brisket and a couple slices of white bread for a quick lunch occasionally.

Blacks is good. I had the beef rib last time I went. It was way more then I could eat. It was a bit pricey but very good.
