Everything about him is "unproven" whereas most of the others on list have many starts under their belts. Any Heisman talk at this point is pointless, let him play the first 6 games next season and see where things stack up. Running 60-85 snaps a game is far different than beating the Roadrunners and Cajuns and playing a few Wildcat plays sparingly. He may materialize as something, maybe not, time will tell. He also started and played well against Miss State. Whether he's great or just pretty good remains to be seen but, he does a couple things better than Quinn. He can run the ball and he throws a better deep ball. Both of those will put more pressure on defenses. JR

Latest “portal” drama. Wisconsin had a player, Xavier Lucas. He just bypassed the portal and enrolled at Miami. Now portal is obsolete. NCAA has no answers.
Wisconsin is supposedly gonna sue him, due to he was signed to a 2 year NIL deal. Which is also a problem because these nil deals don’t really specify to play sports.

He will be a big problem for defenses, and his wheels add a whole new element that Texas didn't have last year. That being said he loses 4 out of 5 on the line, so there will be growing pains as a unit. Another thing I think is big is the kid had swagger that a leader should have, Ewers was lacking in that department.

Ese, you do realize that Ewers was the #1 HS QB the year he signed with OSU and first college player to sign a $1M NIL deal, right? And he played in arguably the toughest classification of USA HS football, TX 6A football at an absolute powerhouse, Southlake Carroll. Also realize, he started at your school UT for 3 years and sits #3 all-time at UT in passing yards and passing TDs behind McCoy and Ehninger, right? Just checking Ese because we've had to listen to you bragging about him the past 3 seasons and Ehninger before him. Lol, seems you've jumped off his bandwagon pretty quickly...Oh yeah, he took UT to CFP the past 2 years too. Lol

Stark doesn't agree with y'all or he would have been playing Manning.

I don't know what college football will end up looking like in five years, but I've got to believe it won't be anything remotely close to what we watched growing up, and that's not for the better.

I said what I said. Yeah, I'm with you. Don't know how much longer I'll follow. If it wasn't for the wife and kid, I'd probably have distanced myself already.

I guess we’re not alone. Saw NC ratings were way down. Kinda surprising since both teams have a pretty good following.

My NFL interest is waaaay down from what it once was. I watch zero NBA. I watch maybe 5 Baseball games a year.
Portal has helped me a little bit. For example, a Bama guy signed with Baylor. He’s a good kid, otherwise I would not watch a Baylor game. Kansas got a couple Bama backups, I will pull for those guys.

I think you will have teams being sold to major corporations eventually
And it'll be a mid tier school 1st and then they'll all be owned at least partially

I dont know how it would work for state schools, but I can see that at private schools, who know what the future holds in the wild west.

I suspect they are about to change up the portal to only a 10 day window in Jan after NC.
NIL will eventually self correct, contracts will get more specific, and be more bonus based and have certain criteria. I do think the NIL will get more strict on what is NIL as it progresses, the inmates never run the asylum for long
Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, b/c they know not victory nor defeat"- #26 TR

How would the portal work after the NC? School will have already started for the Spring semester.
Work much better to have it open after Spring games have been played - say May 1 - May 15?

JR They have 5 days after the last game....and have to be in before class drop. If I remember correctly. There is a spring portal window.

The two portal windows is a problem. But the Wisconsin kid just skipped the portal and ncaa did nothing. You throw in a 3rd portal window for fired, retired or lost coaches is also a factor.
All players should get 5 years max, a degree must be earned to get 5th year. No more 7, 8 or 9th year. Stetson Bennett played for 6 full years and received no degree. That’s a failure, with all support given to these guys.

Did benching Major for pro type Simms work out well? It did not. Apple and oranges though. The enlightened fans wanted Major. They were right then too! JR
