It's not hard to understand. Every time currency of any denomination changes hands the fed gets a cut in taxes. If a penny changes hands even as little as a hundred times in it's lifetime, it's made money for the fed. Make that penny a dollar, or a $10 or a $20, and the government take gets much more interesting. Not just federal, but state and local as well. Everyone gets a piece of the pie. The more currency in circulation the more they make. Nothing will change as far as that goes. Pennies, nickels, dollars, it doesn't matter as pennies will be replaced in the system. If anything it'll cause slight inflation as everything is rounded up.

The rounding is not on individual items, but on a final bill and the penny still remains on digital bank transactions.

This what drives me insane about the Climate Change activists. We can't get rid of the penny, but if we give them all of our money they will change the earth's gravitational rotation. Sure.
