The New Mexico application window opened on January 15, and you will have till March 19 to apply for the public land big game hunts. New Mexico divides its permit allocations into 84% for residents, 10% for outfitters and 6% for nonresidents. I realize that people may or may not agree with this but arguing over it on a forum does no good, and we have to live with it.

Kiowa Hunting is now accepting applicants for the public land draw. We assist you in the application process, we do not put in for you or do we front the money for you but will offer you suggestions on units and hunt dates to match your hunt desire. The important thing to remember is that we do not charge you for the use of the outfitter number. There are now several outfitters that are charging you to use the outfitter number, the price differs by outfitters, and some will refund you money and others will hold it till you draw. There is no difference between applying with Kiowa then applying with them, except we do not charge you to use the outfitter number. The only money that ever changes hands with us is after you draw a license, and we set up a hunt for you. IF you use the outfitter number in the draw, then by law you must be guided by a licensed outfitter or guide for a minimum of the first two days of your hunt. The law stipulates that the guide must be in the field with you during the first two days of your hunt, after that you can continue to hunt on your own for the duration of your hunt.

Why would you want to use Kiowa to apply in the big game draw.
1. We have been in business for 37 years.
2. We have been licensed by the Department of Game and Fish since the licensing began.
3. We are licensed by all Bureau of Land Management districts in the state and by all of the National Forests in the state and can offer you a hunt in any unit for any species that you would like.
a. Some outfitters are licensed in a minimal number of Forests or BLM districts so they will direct you to where they have permits and you are not able to apply in multiple units scattered around the state.
4. We offer you a variety of public land hunts to choose from:
a. Two-day guide only hunts to meet the requirements of the law
b. Two days guided and accommodations and meals in select units
c. Guide only hunts for a minimum of two days to the total length of your hunt. No accommodations or meals are provided.
d. Fully guided and accommodated with meals for the duration of your hunt.

Our new brochure is out, and it will offer you a more details description of hunts, types of hunts and location of hunts. You can also check out our web site at Kiowa Hunting Website for more detailed information. If you would like to go to the brochure directly you can use this link:
