Last week, I went to Albany to take Paul Williams and his son-in-law, Garrett Wyatt on a predator hunt that I had donated to the Legends Dove Hunt, a fundraiser for the Hendricks Children's Hospital in Abilene.
I felt really sorry as we were supposed to hunt a little Thursday evening, all day Friday and a little on Saturday morning. Winds were terrible, we made less than 10 calls, one a herd of Red Angus cows blew us up, one where a deer hunter drove in on us and a third stand disrupted by an oilfield tanker truck. We did manage to kill 5 coyotes in spite of the weather.
Thanks to all the generous donors of this great cause, the Collins Creek Ranch for hosting and the Stasney-Cook Ranch for allowing us to hunt. A very special thanks to Lanny Vinson and the Board of Directors of the Legends Dove Hunt for their tireless efforts to support this great hospital. Lanny told me that the Legends Dove Hunt raised approximately $600,000 this year.
Adios,
Gary
