A Texas jury has ordered a restaurant chain to pay $2.8 million to a woman who filed a lawsuit after she was burned by BBQ sauce.

Genesis Monita, 19, sued Bill Miller Bar-B-Q Enterprises in October 2023 after she had been served sauce that gave her a second-degree burn earlier in the year.

The incident took place in May 2023 when Monita ordered breakfast tacos with barbecue sauce from the restaurant, according to court documents seen by FOX 26 Houston.

No chit. I’ve been burned by their scalding hot sauce more times than I can count. I never thought of suing.

So why is their sauce hot in the first place?

We've covered on here how it's not gourmet, but it's hot enough to be still warm when you get home to eat it.

Yep I have a burn in my lip and on my right rear top gums from pizza yesterday. Maybe I should sue Dominoes and make an easy couple million. I’m sure the lawyer is getting most of the money anyway.

I have been to a few BBQ places that have heated sauce in a crock pot with a ladle

Perfect example of STX. Chiquita will be living the good life for a few years. Probably was TJH. Absolute scum. Probably Corpitos. Bill Millers sucks. The fried chicken is better than the BBQ. I’ve eaten there maybe 5 times in 10+ years.

I’ve eaten at a bunch of them. Their sauce is warm but I’ve never noticed it to be hot. I love a ladle of it over potato salad.
